Another of those this 'n' that posts.
You know, I really do love pulling on my handknit socks. Remind me as I keep knitting things for myself how awesome it can feel to knit for others. You know, like this:
My nephew in his handknit by Aunt Kristi sweater! That feels even better than my handknit socks. (Details: Bookworm sweater from Miss Bea's Rainy Day knit in a closeout from WEBS ... I sustained a puncture wound for this sweater, and I hope he appreciates it.)
Speaking of my handknit socks ...
These are from the Ann Budd Baby Sock pattern for Interweave. The pdf can be found here.
Moving to more pics of finished objects for others, I finished the knitting on the Lady Eleanor Stole for Abigail (well, for her mom, I guess). Abigail is allergic to wool, so I took over this stole project when she started developing hives and wheezing - she did manage to do over half of it, I think:
Lady Eleanor Stole from Scarf Style by Pam Allen in Noro Silk Garden.
Heh, you'll note the literal loose ends on that photo.
And a close-up of the colors:
Which sort of brings me to my final point of the day, it's Friday, so that means some shots of some pretty yarn!
This is Cherry Tree Hill in the Java colorway ...
Warm, rich colors. I love it.
Wow, you Lady E. looks wonderful. I think I used that colorway for mine as well. Great minds think alike!! :O)
One thing for the future, I would suggest spit splicing the wool together (unraveling and hand felting the ends together)so that you don't have so many ends. I did that for my lady E. and it was wonderful to only have two ends to weave. Just a thought.
Great job!!

Hmm...I had CTH yarn on the brain today because I'm getting ready to start socks with it. Does that count?
I love all your handknits!
Posted by: monica at October 27, 2006 1:15 PMThanks for remininding me what that colorway is. I love it, but I'm warning you, wash it a few times on it's own before you wash it with anything else. It's the red/brown that leaches a little.
Posted by: Stephania/Moirae at October 27, 2006 2:07 PMOh, I love that Java colorway. Perhaps I'll have to get some...
*reminds self that she's on a yarn diet*
*wonders if she can get away with going to the yarn shop anyway*

Posted by: Jo at October 27, 2006 4:19 PMI had a question for cookie and her pomatomus sock - it says it fits a size 9 and is stretchy... i'm a size 6 to 6.5 and i was going to try to knit this sock since i want to learn to read charts... but will i just have to adjust the length of the foot to fit me or will i have to really funk around with the numbers?
thanks!

Posted by: Carol at October 28, 2006 6:49 PMSometimes I think I give away all my handknit things to assuage the guilt of all that time I spent making them. Like I was being selfish or lazy with my time! Well, my gift recipients aren't complaining, are they?
Love that Java!
Posted by: Laura at October 29, 2006 5:40 AMLooks like the little guy has some room to grow in that sweater! Very cute, along with the baby socks. That tree shot is great! I'll have to use it in the future. And that's some nice looking yarn...
Posted by: Margit at October 29, 2006 8:40 AMAwww...the baby items are so cute! There must be something in the air about the Lady E. I've had that pattern on the brain for awhile, but seeing yours makes me want to cast on immediately!
Posted by: Suzie at October 29, 2006 3:18 PMThe sweater and socks pics just make me melt... I love kids knitting :) (Even though mine won't wear anything I've made lately!)
Posted by: aija at October 30, 2006 5:27 AMBeautiful, simply gorgeous, Kristi.
I have a OT question. I was reading this blog's archives, and apparently you had tendonitis for a while. I'm suffering from the same condition, and I'm curious: what did you do to get yourself back on track?
Hope it's not too bold.
Love that Java colorway. It reminds me of coffee and fudge - two of my favorite things. I'm in the middle of knitting a pair of socks with is and it's going to be one of my favorites!
