Ok, as usual, the picture isn't so great. Hopefully I'll be able to get a better picture once I've skeined and set the twist. The plying was a bit of a nightmare as I'm still having trouble getting the right tension without making the clip on the Lendrum flip over. I don't know what the deal is -- I'm thinking some lessons might be in order. I also need to get some oil before I do any more spinning!
Yeah spinning! Don't worry it looks great, I think it's all about finding your rhythm. One day it just clicked for ome, I'm sure it will with you too.
Posted by: Rebekah at June 22, 2006 9:42 AMIt looks great! Just keep going. You will get it and then when you want to make yarn like that again you can't because you will be all even! Love it! FYI if you don't have any oil on hand use a little vasaline. Did I spell that right?
;-)
Posted by: beth at June 22, 2006 10:08 AMI was told by the person I bought my wheel from that a teflon oil was the way to go, I can't remember if I found it at Menards or if I bought it from The Fold in Marengo IL (where I got the wheel) I too seem to have a problem with plying, I've gotten past the twisted clip problem (practice) but the wheel doesn't seem to go as smoothly and becomes a little rocky. I'm going to The Fold tomorrow and hope to ask the expert there for advice. Say Hi to Cookie for me and tell her I gave my two weeks so the next time she's in town I won't be in such a pissy mood.
Posted by: misslunablu at June 23, 2006 8:05 PMDon't use the teflon oil! I was just at a spinning store and the woman said they no longer recommend it because it will over time get thick and slow the wheel, I bought some Schact wheel oil. oops
