Never fear -- I have still been knitting while learning to spin. After all, I need something to do at BobaKnit meetings (we knit and drink Pearl tea, yum!) ...
I started a new sock last weekend when Cookie and I went out KIPing. I wanted to do a nice lacy pattern, but lost my book somewhere between my apt and the pearl tea shop! I think I left it in Cookie's apartment. Or her car. Anyway, so then Cookie suggested cables. So far I really like them:
Cherry Tree Hill Supersock in Old Rose. I cast on 36 stitches using the cast-on from knitty, then worked my way up to 60 stitches. Then I increased in the cable areas just before beginning cabling. The cables are 6 stitches wide total, cabling every 6th row, and there are 2 purl stitches between each cable (with one purl stitch on each end before the bottom of the foot.
I am trying the magic loop method, because Anabel and Abigail make it look so good all the time. So far, so good!
It looks beautiful... and no, you didn't lose your mind, it just went on a short vacation without you :-)
Posted by: Faerielady at June 18, 2006 8:44 AMI love the cable and it looks great with the yarn. I have been using the magic loop lately although I am now on 2 circs and next will be doing 2 socks on 2 circs - can't wait to start on them! They look so nice - finished version will be great!
Posted by: Cynthia at June 18, 2006 9:34 AMI really like the way those socks are looking, in case I didn't tell you that in person. :)
Posted by: Abigail at June 18, 2006 8:58 PMI really like how those cables look. I nearly did a cable on my current sock in progress but I was worried that it might make my foot look fat. Irrational fear? Probably.
Posted by: hillary at June 19, 2006 7:00 AMMe too, love them cables! And, I went wow! when I saw the colorway - gotta get some (enabler you!). I'll wait patiently :) for the finished socks...
Posted by: Terry at June 19, 2006 2:18 PMWow. That's really breathtaking. It makes me pout over my plain tan, stockinette socks I'm making for the husband. *wink* Keep up the inspiring work... -j.
