Just in time for summer!

It's been really busy over here, but I managed to finish (including weaving in the ends!) the "Natasha" pullover. No blocking yet because I wanted to get a picture in natural light before it was too late. And it's far too warm to wear this sweater any time soon.

Side Front

I'm thinking of re-doing the collar because it doesn't lie flat. What do you think?

The details:

Pattern: Natasha Eyelet Pullover from Adrienne Vitadini Fall 2003
Yarn: Rowan Kid Classic in Crushed Velvet from Ebay.
Needles: Boye and Addi circular size 8s
Size: Petite
Modifications: Knit at smaller gauge to get an even smaller sweater. Changed collar to ribbed v-neck that matches the sleeve ribbing. Removed lace panels from back.
Concerns: I would prefer roomier sleeves and a smaller chest. The circumference in the original pattern was 39" (for a petite!!!), but with smaller gauge it was 36". I might rip out the collar and use short rows to make it lie flat. Overall an excellent pattern, but I would have prefered charts. It's marked for experienced knitters, and I agree. There is a lot of "reverse shaping" and "at the same time".

Comments

Wow, that's glorious! I think the collar looks great; the shape of it is subtly futuristic, which suits the pattern. I have been obsessing over the pattern for a few years and have had many of the same concerns you have expressed, so I have been watching your progress and adaptations with great interest. Beautifully done. :)

I like the way it looks, but if you hate the collar you should redo it.

It looks great, but I agree on the collar. When in doubt, just fix it.

You said to let you know if there are any more finished pomatomus socks out there. Check out Yarn Harlot's May 3 entry.
Just letting you know.

I think it looks wonderful, but if the collar bothers, re-work it now. Otherwise, who knows what the fate of this lovely sweater will be.

Hard to tell just by looking at the picture ... the collar seems okay in it. Is it the back of the collar that doesn't lie flat? If you don't like it, redo it ... otherwise you'll keep not liking it. But it's a fabulous sweater!

Mmmm. Yummy. Ya know, if you go places where there is air conditioning, you could wear it. Time to go to see lots of movies!

How do you like the yarn? Is it itchy?

I really like it, interesting design. Love the sleeves! I agree with what matters is if you like the collar. I hate having something haunt me I didn't fix!

It looks fabulous on you! I adore the design.

From the pictures, my opinion is the collar could use some tweaking.

It turned out fabulous. But then again, all your stuff always does.

The sweater is awesome! I like the sticky-uppy collar and would leave it.

I'm with all the others echoing to change the collar if it bothers you. Yup! That's s very nice sweater, turned out wonderfully in the Kid Classic.

When the page opened to your lovely sweater I especially loved the shaping on the collar. The shape of it seems to suit the pattern. Most unusual and very high fashion in look. I would keep it. I was surprised to read that you were thinking of ripping it out to do over. Just my opinion in my crazy fashion style!
