Kristi called me on her way to knitting last night, and I realized I had nothing to bring with me to knit! Okay not entirely true, but let's look at the possibilities:
1. Hand Jive Knits sock - Needs to be frogged and possibly done in a different yarn. I didn't have time to ball another yarn.
2. VK sweater dress - Need size 9 needles which I have misplaced.
3. London Pride - Hrm. I didn't even think of taking this with me. I would need to dig up the pattern and the project. Not enough time for finding the project. Didn't I have hopes of finishing this by April 15? I must have been on CRACK.
4. Monkey sweater - I'd forgotten about this. I'm thinking of finishing it for my friend E by next sweater season. She would totally wear it.
So what's a girl to do? I rummaged through my yarn looking for the first yarn that was pre-balled and suitable for a mindless project. Here's what I found:
It's some of the obscene hoard of recycled sari silk and Filatura di Crosa Kid Mohair I have. I originally ordered it to make a jacket, but that ended up being a bad idea. The yarn is quite dense, so a jacket would have required 30 pounds of yarn and probably would have stretched like mad. The kid mohair is supposed to be knit with the silk yarn to keep the fabric together better, otherwise the silk has a tendency to stretch. So what have we here?
A boring seed stitch scarf. I figured I can make everybody I know a recycled sari silk scarf with the amount I have. This particular scarf was restarted three times before I realized that the beginning section of the ball was an ugly color that didn't match the rest of the ball. What's worse than frogging mohair? Frogging mohair and recycled sari silk yarn. I ended up cutting the ugly section out after the second frogging.
It's turning out nice and pretty. And my xmas knitting is way ahead of schedule!
I like it!!
Also, it makes me so happy when I see everyone knitting your P-sock. I get a big smile on my face and think.... I know her! (kinda!)

Posted by: Crystal at April 8, 2006 9:47 AMCookie,
You remind me of Wendy when it comes to your knitting speed and yarn collection, should I hate you too or resign myself to jealousy?
Your too cool.
Looks fantastic! I love the recycled silk, I like the idea of pairing it with mohair.

Posted by: freecia at April 9, 2006 7:25 PMIt's just what I've been looking for! I love it. I must knit a pair! Thanks, Cookie.
Posted by: Pauline at April 10, 2006 9:09 AMYeah, the whole needy projects thing.. all of 'em need something right now. Nothing just wants to be knit. I need some just plain knitting!
Hey.. maybe I could make the Hedera socks for some just plain knitting. Hmm... finding double points...
