Finally, K's finished Katrina Rib

Well, remember me? The people (Cookie) have been calling for my return to the blog. Mostly, I think Cookie wants to see my finished Katrina Rib. I mean, after all she designed it. Then when I was knitting it, I wouldn't stop going on and on about how soft and wonderful it was. Once I finished it though, she never heard about it again. The elusive Katrina Rib was my sweater of choice for Christmas Mass with the family (Twice, but let's not go into the details). I also wore it to the lutefisk festival we went to in early December. Had Cookie not completely backed out on me, she would have seen the sweater then. Hm. I hadn't thought of it that way.

Please ignore the fact that the sweater is inside out. For some reason, I'm not up to another photo-shoot with this sweater. However, know that it is inside out, so if you are making the Katrina Rib don't use this as a good idea of how the traveling rib should look. Realistically, to the non-knitter inside-out and right-side-out look the same. Pretend you don't know.

And you know what? It's still really really soft. I used the Rowan Cashsoft DK in Poison, and it's just wonderful. My only real problem with the yarn (so far) is that EVERY SINGLE BALL I used had about 4 yards of yarn at the beginning that were not attached to the rest of the ball. Consider yourself warned.

I'm a bit concerned about pilling, but I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

In other knitting news, I finished a pair of Jaywalker socks in Lorna's Laces. I will try and post pics soon before I send them off to my soon-to-be-SIL. I'm working on a secret project that is pretty time consuming, so there isn't much other knitting to be shown.

I have, however, jumped off the cliff with the rest of the crazies and joined the Knitting Olympics. I'll be making the Fair Isle gloves I had started before but stopped due to some color issues. I guess I should start "training" by swatching in my new color plan before opening ceremonies!

Finally, Stitches West is coming up soon, and Cookie and I couldn't be more excited about hanging out in the Lacy Knitters Guild booth with Lew and Gene. Stop by if you have a chance!.
