I *do* knit, see!

I decided it was time to knit on the London Pride, so I'd have *something* to show on the blog. Plus I joined the Summer of Lace Yahoo! Group as motivation to get me cranking on it. There are way too many messages, I can't possibly keep up with them. Chances I'll finish London Pride this summer? Highly unlikely. I've knit 108 rounds so far. That's the 20% mark for the teacloth, almost 14% of the dinner cloth. Yikes. That was a LOT of knitting. As you can see, I've gotten past the leaves and am starting the beginning of the flowers. I'm very excited by the flowers!

About this pattern. It's by Marianne Kinzel and is No. 14 in her Artistic Needlework Publications series. I haven't been able to find much information about these publications, but I did notice while reading Creating Original Hand-Knitted Lace by Margaret Stove, that the London Pride pattern is in a picture on page 65. The pattern isn't mentioned in the text though.

The pattern has charted and written directions for both the tea cloth and dinner cloth versions. At this point, I think I will knit the tea cloth as I don't like the extra leaf edging on the dinner cloth. I tried to look up the main lace background pattern in Barbara Walker's Treasuries, but couldn't find it. Now that I've knit a lot more if it, I get what's happening with it. The beginning sections that were small and at an angle were confusing because it was difficult to see what the pattern was.

It's looking fabulous! I also find it easier going after I've done a repeat or two or five and then can see what it's supposed to be doing.

Wow, you've made progress even since Sunday's SnB. And you can totally see how much you've done with the photo. Nice work! I like the shape of the base of the flower.

It's really beautiful, I thought it looked like a Kinzel pattern. I haven't seen it though before. I'm working on one of her patterns called Daffodil. Right now it's on the back burner, because it's going to take sooo much time. I'll get back to it eventually though, it's too nice a pattern not to.
