I finished these socks on Sunday, which was my birthday. So, like Ms. Spinnity, I have birthday socks! I really like them.
The yarn is kpppm that C got from Jessie at Gilneas Knits in exchange for some recycled silk yarn. We're not sure exactly what color it is, but it sure is purty.
I really liked knitting with this yarn, and these socks were my first attempt at top down to toe socks. I like it, but my next pair (already on the needles) is toe up again. These were knit on a size 1 addi turbo for the ankle, and then switched to (slightly smaller) size 1 susan bates dpns for the heel on down. I actually kind of like the fit this provides, with a little more room for my ankles and nice and snug around my foot.
I think we may be back to our regularly scheduled blogging (Finally), by the way. Sorry about the lack of posting!
Those colors are awesome! Glad you're back. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Posted by: Laura at January 12, 2005 5:39 PMHey, birthday socks! How funny that you want the foot tighter.. I'm all honked off at my birthday socks because the ankles are too loose. But yours look great. Do you think this is the start of something big? A knitting world tradition: birthday socks. And of course, Happy (much belated) birthday, sister capricorn.
