Short version of knitting drama: I was expecting several hanks from the second batch to match the first batch of recycled silk yarn, since we did order 7 kilos and would have a lot to choose from. The second batch was actually very uniform in thickness and color and completely different from the first batch. So. I did not have enough matching yarn to finish my recycled silk jacket. What to do??? I attempted to seam together the pieces I had to make a skirt. I failed. This stuff stretches a lot widthwise, and the thing completely slides off. I'd have to hack off a good eight inches at least to have it stay on, but even then it's so heavy it doesn't seem practical. So instead I've joined the poncho craze. At least until I get the urge to frog and reknit. But hey, for now I'm counting this as an FO. And consoling myself with the fact that the silk softens a lot with each reknitting. How do I know? I spent a lot of Tuesday night frogging and reknitting because I'd had a design change for the jacket that I'm not knitting anymore. Sigh.
What do you think?
This is one of the cutest ponchos I've seen yet! I really like the yarn you used.
