you'll have to trust me

I've been knitting and doing knitting-related things, I just haven't taken pictures. So you'll have to take my word for it that any of this has happened. Here's what I claim to have done recently, knitwise:

> I decided to start knitting lace. I spent some time looking up lace patterns and finally decided to go for it. I went and bought crochet cotton and itty-bitty needles at JoAnn's. I spent quite some time trying to cast on 8 stitches to size 0 needles and then split between 4 needles and then not get them twisted. Mission accomplished, and I'm on round 17 of a feather star doily.

> I finally checked out The Golden Fleece (LYS) in Santa Cruz. I liked it. The help was very nice, and of course I walked away with some yarn. I got 3 skeins of Wildfoote. I also got an old Paton's pattern for making a Grommit from Wallace and Grommit. I need to go out and get supplies for him and get going!

> I am at the ribbing on the top of my second sock. I should be able to wear them soon! WOOT!

> I knit with some friends yesterday and taught one how to knit. It was fun, but it's not easy to teach someone to knit. She will definitely need further instruction, because it's a lot to take in at once. I learned partially from C and partially from a book, so I had the book to turn to when I needed help.

I think that's it! Expect pics later in the week ...

I think it's almost MORE important for the teacher to be patient than it is for the student when you're knitting. But good for you on sucking another soul into the moneypit. hee hee
