FO!

Ok, so this isn't a knitted FO, but I finally made my first sewing FO. It's a skirt, and here's a picture:

It was a simple beginning. I decided to start with a fabric I liked, but didn't absolutely love, so that if I messed up I wouldn't be too sad. You can't tell from this picture, but it's actually an A-line skirt that goes below my knees. The angle and perspective is a bit warped there. I was thinking of adding some decorative stitching in brown to it, but that seems tedious. Maybe later...

As for knitting, I've made some progress on the aran sweater but have no picture to show. I'm almost at the armholes on the body. I think I will follow Laura's advice and make it a raglan, but I'm not sure how things will line up if I do that. I have to go back to the drawing room to make some calculations. Another possibility is saddle shouldered, but that kinda scares me.

I was bad and ordered some kid mohair for the recycled silk sari yarn project. The color is a pretty close match, but not exactly. I think it will do. Turns out the yarn I have is more red than fuschia. Can you tell the difference?

The weekend update:
Beside sewing the skirt, Amanda came over and knit with me on Sunday. We went yarn store shopping at The Knitting Workshop and Knitters Niche. I was really good and did not buy any yarn, but I did buy some 50 cent pattern books. As I told Amanda, I'm a pattern whore, even if I don't use patterns most of the time, I like to read them anyway. Amanda took home a much bigger haul. She got some sock yarn and a bunch of orange tape that I think K would have really liked. She's made progress on her Kyoto. Hopefully I'll see it tonight at Stitch n Bitch. Huzzah.

Nah, you can't tell the difference. And aren't you mixing it with the multi colored silk anyway?
