A 3 yarn store day.
We started our day at Custom Handweavers in Mountain View. I love the owner of this store. She's very nice and knowledgeable. C and I both bought lots of needles from her. I got some size 4 dpns and a size 3 29" circular. C got some needles and a book of some sort about knitting in the Bohus tradition. She'll have to tell you more about that.
Next stop was the Rug and Yarn Hut in Campbell. After getting a bit on the lost side (perhaps I should have brought my map), we made it into the store. C found the clearance pool -- literally a wading pool full of clearance yarns -- and picked up some sock yarn. She may have found some other yarns there as well, but I'll count on her to show you some pics. I got nothing, but I fondled again, and came darn close to buying some Cascade 220. The thing I liked about this store was that any yarn she had, she had in a large variety of colors. That's always fun.
C was on a quest for a size L (11) crochet hook for her project for her mom from Interweave. The nice lady at the rug and yarn hut sent us to the Knitting Room in San Jose to get it. She called ahead for us, which we were impressed by. Not everyone will refer you to another store. The Knitting Room is where I splurged for myself.
I bought this lovely Lorna's Laces yarn. The wonderful woman who helped us at the Knitting Room even wound it for me.
I also bought myself some 12" addi turbos in size 2! This is a big splurge for me, since I don't normally spend much on needles. But I figured making socks faster would be worth it.
And look how far I was on the socks only two days later:
See, turbos are fast. Or maybe I just had a lot of time on my hands.
That was the end of our shopping, and then it was on to knitting ...
