bad (penny) girl

I admit it. I was a bad girl. I started working on the bad penny before I finished the plastic bag. Even though there is a 4 month difference in when they should be done. Oh well. I swear, it's because the plastic bag thing was starting to hurt my hands! Anyway, so let's see where we stand here:

So this is the bad penny from knitty. Or it will be, when it's done. I'm using valley cotton that I got from WEBS which I got to gauge on size 7s. For those of you unfamiliar with this pattern, it is knit top down (clearly), and the collar and rest of the sleeves will be added later. They will be knit in just navy in 1x1 ribbing.

And I did some work on my plastic bag of plastic bags. It's now about 6 inches tall. This pic doesn't really look right, but I was having a hard time getting the bag to do what I wanted. It's not fit to be a model. When I take the final pic, I'll put a box in there or something to hold it up. Here it is:

It's now on 10.5 circulars, and I'm just doing stockinette for the body of the bag. I decided after a discussion with C to go ahead and try cutting my strips to more like 1.5-2 inches wide and not double up anymore. This seems to be working alright, with maybe fewer problems than using two strands. The problems with two strands were that one strand would end up under the stitch next to it and get all stuck on the needles and just cause lots of trouble. I think this was really mainly a problem with the colored parts of the bag, which are more sticky.

So that's it, that's my progress. I'm starting to think ahead to the next project. Must ... finish ... plastic ... bag!
