finished hoodie

I finished the hoodie yesterday, washed and blocked it. While it was drying today, I was out at a deep fat frying fest. Well, actually a couple friends decided they really wanted to try deep frying turducken. Oh boy. It wasn't exactly successful because the turkey was cooked, but the chicken and duck were not, but then we got a turkey to fry which turned out well. In the meantime, we roasted the turducken in the oven until it was cooked. Damn was it good. It had a sausage stuffing. Very juicy and yummy. Also, while waiting for it to cook, we made a grocery store trip looking for things to deep fat fry. We came up with twinkies, biscuits and candy bars. It was a total fat fest in the wonderful midwestern style. Mmmm. And then I left and came home, and the hoodie was nice and dry for picture taking. So today has been good to me.

Here is the sweater:

As for the WEBS sale, I ordered a LOT of yarn. It shipped yesterday and should be getting here on Wednesday. Huzzah! My friend E is visiting next week, so not as much knitting will get done. And I'm sure she'll think I'm a complete freak when the order arrives while she's here. "That yarn's as big as you are!!!"

Cool! Dig the color, too. I have been on a hoodie quest recently. Did you use a pattern and if so, where did you get it?

I did not use a pattern, but I took the basic neck shaping structure from the Huntington Castle hoodie in the Fall Interweave Knits. Basically, there is no neck shaping for a hoodie. Where the neck would be, you add a slit down the center front and remove all other neck shaping, knitting until you're even across the top, and then start increasing for the hoodie. Then you join or graft it across the top.

I looked at a bunch of knit hoodies when I was out shopping with the family. :) I find that's a great way to see how things are constructed. But if you're looking for an actual pattern, I recommend the Rogue. It looks really cute! I may put up the pattern for the hoodie I did at some point, but that could take some time...
