Workout: Yoga for Strength: session 2
Author: chaos
Had a very mediocre Yoga for Strength session 2 workout today. I was originally thinking about skipping the workout entirely, and after having completed it, that seems like it might have been the better choice. No injuries or anything like that, just an uninspired session. Actually, the shoulders felt good throughout the workout, which was really the only high point. I think it was mostly just an issue of being slightly out of balance, particularly on my right side. I pretty much failed to get into half moon pose on the right. I later had trouble with both brave warrior and tree pose, the latter being particularly odd because it’s normally a simple pose for me. In the arm balance section, maybe a tiny improvement in pendulum pose, but I was having trouble completely holding crane pose, which has been very strong for me lately. However, I suppose it was good to get in the workout, just to get closer to working a complete cycle between breaks.

Workout: Power Yoga: Stamina
Author: chaos
Started a new cycle with Power Yoga: Stamina today. Seemed like a good choice to break back in with after a few days off. Went just fine… the only real notable thing was that my shoulders felt like they could still be a bit fatigued, but they aren’t really. Kind of a dull almost-aching feeling during downward dog, but not a raw feeling. Hopefully I can make it through the cycle with no more pain in the shoulders than that. That’s really all for now… just a quick note to establish my return. I’ll probably get going again this week.

Workout: Power Yoga: Strength
Author: chaos
Well, the last entry ended up being the precursor to a very long break, as it turned out. Various factors contributing, but most importantly just a lack of motivation.
At any rate, made my return today with a Power Yoga: Strength session. It was… interesting. Spent the first half of the workout feeling quite stiff, in ways that I hadn’t been previously. I guess just not doing anything for a few weeks caused me to stiffen more than I have in the past, for some reason. About halfway through, my body seemed to loosen up somewhat, and I started to feel more normal in my movements. Probably the oddest thing was my shoulders… they pretty much felt the same as when I left off, in terms of fatigue and tiredness. That seems really odd, because I don’t think I’ve been doing anything to strain them in the downtime. I’ll obviously have to monitor the situation closely.
The session itself was fairly standard. The time off didn’t really seem to cause any problems, other than the aforementioned stiffness. Maybe lost a little strength, pendulum pose seemed even less doable than usual. Also didn’t hold full eastern plank pose as long as usual, which was a bit strange, but perhaps it was just because my muscles were over-fatigued from the time off and hadn’t readjusted yet.
Well, that’s about it. The return certainly wasn’t revelatory or anything, so I can’t guarantee that I’ll be rejuvenated in my practice, and go back to doing it every day. On the other hand, it could just be that I’m still feeling the fatigue from the workout, and I’ll be much more inspired tomorrow. Time will tell, I suppose. So, until next time…
