Workout: Power Yoga: Strength

Well, after having a few weeks off, managed to get a couple of workouts in during the week in Phoenix. Alternated a few PY:Stamina and PY:Strength sessions. It definitely felt good to get some workouts in… I think my body was beginning to miss it, especially with all the driving that we’ve been doing. So it was nice to be able to do a few workouts while hiding from the Phoenix heat. I don’t think that I made any particular gains or did anything overly notable, but at this point I think if I can just maintain what I already have throughout the summer, that will be pretty good.
As a note of regret, I have to say that every once in a while, it’s unfortunate that I’m not a morning person. Doing a yoga workout as the sun rose in the mountains while camping in New Mexico would have been absolutely gorgeous.

Workout: Power Yoga: Stamina

Got in another set of PY:Stamina and PY:Strength workouts. It definitely feels good to be back to getting in workouts on a regular basis. Makes me feel more alive, almost. Something like that, at any rate.
Again, nothing much new to report. PY:Strength continues to be quite challenging, as I attempt to slog through a seemingly endless amount of downward dog poses. PY:Stamina is starting to get a little bit easier, although it’ll probably still be a little while before I’d go so far as to call it easy. I’ve been considering getting to the flexibility workout, but I don’t think I’m quite ready for it yet. Maybe I’ll manage sometime in the next couple of weeks. At any rate, we’re off to San Francisco in the morning, so it might be a couple of days before I get back to the workouts.

Gone through a few more PY:Strength and Stamina sessions this week. They’ve been fairly decent sessions, but made more entertaining than usual by having hosts and guests join in on the action. It’s definitely a bit of a boost in motivation, having other people around that are interested in doing the workouts as well. Makes it much harder to just be lazy.
Nothing much to say about the workouts themselves… it’s felt good just to get them in. It has been noticably more difficult to concentrate on the mental aspects of the workout with the addition of other people, all of whom are new to the practice. Not that the goal for these workouts has really been mental… for right now, just getting in physical workouts is challenging enough. At any rate, it’s been a fun couple of days here (massive DDR in addition to the yoga for extra exercise), and hopefully I’ll continue to get workouts in as we progress on the trip.

Workout: Power Yoga: Flexibility

Finally tried out this workout. It wasn’t as bad as I was expecting… having previously watched it, I thought that some of the stretches were really going to be impossible for me. While I’m certainly not as flexible as Rodney, it wasn’t too bad. It waits to be seen how I’ll feel tomorrow, of course, but I’m certainly happy to have finally done this workout.
Also managed to get in the rest of the video in the previous two days. Between that and the DDR playing, I definitely feel like I’ve been getting plenty of exercise. Another few weeks on the road to go, and then it should be back to the comfort of home practice. Heading out of the Bay Area in the morning, so it’ll probably be a few days before I do another full workout.
