Did I mention?

I believe I mentioned that I have a small obsession with brown mixed with bluish-green (or greenish-blue). There was the yarn I spun for Cookie, the merino I dyed and spun for Anabel, and there was this tiny bit of yarn stash expansion from Stitches:

Shelridge Farm Sock Yarn

Shelridge Farm Sock Yarn 2

Most of what I got at Stitches was fiber, but it's hard to pass up such a pretty colorway, and especially such a pretty colorway from Buffy at Shelridge Farm (It's their 100% wool fingering weight yarn in SU07-017). For those of you not reading this on an aggregator, you may notice that these colorways match our blog colors as well.

Speaking of Stitches purchases, I did start spinning up some of the fiber I got there. The Lisa Souza colorways just really struck me this year -- her dyeing style makes for some really gorgeous fibers. Like this:

Lisa Souza Merino Silk South Pacific

Isn't it lovely and shiny? The only problem is how many pictures I had to take to get a decent one.

That is spinning up into this:

I have found so far that the merino/silk is a bit hard on the hands. The silk is kind of "sticky", so a lot of predrafting was in order, and that seems to be helping.

I've been knitting too, but I'll save that for another post ...

more pretty spinning...sigh....

Shelridge has the best hand dyed yarns - the colors are crazy pretty!

Ooooh, I'm really liking the handspun. What a great colorway! Want. To. See. More.

Ooooh. Pretty!

Ooh I love the Shelridge Farms colorway you got. I got one from them that Angie (my partner in yarn) kept saying looked like Wonka Bar colors. That was another booth hard to get away with just two skeins of yarn.

That Lisa Souza is spinning up really pretty. It should make some pretty fantastic yarn when you're all done with it!

I love brown and blue-green together too, your fibers are making me drool... I'll be interested to see how the merino/silk turns out; I have 4 ounces I've been saving for awhile (I'm intimidated by it.)

Beautiful yarn and roving. Love the colors of the handspun!

Merino/silk is my absolute favourite fiber to spin, even if it does get a bit slippery and slick at times. It looks like you are doing a super fantabulous job!

I love the colors of the roving. The yarn is going to be gorgeous!

Yep, I know all about the brown/blue thing. I have that addiction too. When I was spinning I made myself not buy any shade of blue to go with the chocolate brown I was spinning. lol

That Lisa Souza looks GORGEOUS, I want to pick up a lot of fiber at MDS&W when I go. Your spinning is just so beautiful!

The Lisa Souza fiber just GLOWS. Ooooo, so pretty. I think that yarn would match my blog, too. There's something magical about the way those shades of blue and brown play off of each other.

Merino/silk? 50/50? Do you know if it's tussah or bombyx? It's so shiny, really incredible! I just bought some silk/merino blend but it's nowhere near so shiny.
Funny, I keep obsessing about blue and brown too. So much so that I'm avoiding dyeing that combination for fear ALL my yarns will be blue and brown.

You yarn obsessions are really pretty and I love Lisa Souza for both yarn and fiber. I have a thing for the brown ranges and am spinning both Mahogany and Petroglyph from her.

The only think I like as much as blue and brown is blue and green. :)

Both of those colorways are stunning - I can't decide which I love more!

That Lisa Souza fiber is gorgeous. I have read many raves about her yarns and fibers, but I haven't tried them myself as of yet. Soon I hope.

umm, hello?! Gorgeous! I can't wait to see the end result of what you're spinning!

Your spinning is wonderful. I just bought my first wheel the other day and I love it. I am going to have to try some of that Lisa Souza fiber.

I understand the color obsession. My stash is still trying to recover from the Cherry Tree Hill Java incident of 2006 as well as the "Rose Garden" (aka anything in shades of red and green) from 2005. I go thru some strange color phases.

Your pictures inspire me to learn to spin some day. Absolutely gorgeous.
