Remember this?
It's ok to say no, it is from October. It's superwash wool (sent to me by Aija) that I dyed with Cookie and Margit using Wilton's icing dyes. As you may have noticed, I have a thing for brown with blue/green. (Oh! Thanks for all the compliments on my Lucy yarn that Cookie showed off the other day!)
Well, I started spinning them at Spinnity's house on Saturday, and plyed the last of the singles last night!
Here's the yarn pics, though these are from before washing:
The yarn is fingering weight, at 16 wpi, and it was navajo-plyed to preserve the color runs, so it is a 3-ply. About the color runs -- I split the roving in half lengthwise and then spun the singles directly from that and navajo-plyed, so the color runs are rather looooooong. I think there are about 7 color changes over the 200 yds/ skein. Had I thought about it more, I might have divided into fourths and done the same thing, but I think this will be cool too. At any rate, I love it!
Next spinning project is some Lisa Souza merino/silk. I'm loving it so far!
Yay! I'm the first! I saw this on Flickr, it's absolutely stunning. And you're not the only one into that color theme, you should see my Monkey socks.
Posted by: shadkitty at March 14, 2007 8:58 PMNiiice! I finished plying up the merino I was working on too... maybe our yarns are almost related. :)
Posted by: aija at March 14, 2007 11:43 PMYour handspun is beautiful! I love those colors together!
Posted by: Kelly at March 15, 2007 4:39 AMthat should make some pretty thick stripes when knit up, right? neat!!!!
Posted by: stacey at March 15, 2007 6:27 AMOoh I like those colors! My partner in crime and I have been having a peacock colored yarn fetish of late and that is right in that family of colors.
And I am seriously in love with Lisa Souza stuff after Stitches. I escaped the booth with just 2 skeins of sock yarn, but I totally want to make out with them on a daily basis. I can't wait to see what you got from her delicious booth!
Posted by: Teenuh at March 15, 2007 7:52 AMAs always, you produce a gorgeous yarn. It's an unusual colour combination, but I think I like it!
Posted by: Opal at March 15, 2007 9:23 AMNavajo plied fingering weight? NICE! And it looks so even. Well done!
Posted by: Jeni at March 15, 2007 9:24 AMBeautiful!!!
Looking at your yarn makes me realize how much I have yet to learn about spinning.
Wow, blue and beige is an unstoppable spring combination!!

Posted by: Hayppyyarns (blog) at March 16, 2007 8:59 AMI can see why that dye is called icing - it actually has the texture and tone of icing!
Posted by: Barbara at March 17, 2007 6:04 AMI, too, am obsessed with that color combo lately.
Pretty! Pretty!

Posted by: al at March 19, 2007 3:46 PMThat blue is exactly the color I want to dye my sock yarn! I like the way it worked out with the brown. Very nice!
Posted by: Pauline at March 20, 2007 9:15 AMAbsolutely delicious. It's been my favorite color combo for about... two years now, well reflected in my wardrobe and house. Enjoy!
