Yesterday I finished spinning up all the singles of my Alpaca/Corriedale:
This yarn is being Navajo-plyed, and the finished weight is a heavy worsted weight. It's been a bit of a challenge to spin even singles for this project. As seems to happen a lot for newer spinners, once you go to a finer weight, it's hard to go back. I think I've done alright though.
Actually, yesterday I finished plying all but one of the bobbins, so I should have pictures of the finished yarn soon.
In knitting news, I am making a pair of the Fuzzy Feet from Knitty. They're not for me, which I'm finding a bit difficult. You see, they are only a little bit bigger than my foot. And that's pre-felting. But they are for someone with smaller feet than I, so hopefully I can figure out an ok way to block them to a reasonable size. Anyway, here is a pic of the first fuzzy foot, unfelted:
So I don't know what to spin next, but I have a few new choices from Spunky Eclectic:

If you click on the thumbnails, it will take you to Flickr so you can see the specs. I really didn't mean to get so many that were the same color, but I guess I like those colors!
The singles look gorgeous, I can't wait to see the plyed yarn! Good luck with the fuzzy feet.
Posted by: Schrodinger at December 10, 2006 12:47 PMI bundle up some newspaper and shape it into the right sized foot based on some foot size measurement charts I found online. Tape it into shape and cover with a grocery bag.
Guess you'd need to watch the felting closely to make sure you were getting to a close size then pop the foot form in while the fuzzy feet are wet.
Posted by: freecia at December 10, 2006 1:44 PMOoh, I love Spunky Eclectic stuff. That roving looks delicious.
Posted by: Amanda at December 10, 2006 2:18 PMI've been following your spinning to see what I want to do - I know I like all! the fiber you show, but not sure what type to spin. The colors are beautiful, and I'm sure it's easy to buy similar colors - I'm sure I'll do the same as I get more and more. Thanks for the link, it helps to narrow down who to order from (you enabler!). The alpaca/corriedale looks lovely, I can see it was lots of spinning there.
Posted by: Terry at December 10, 2006 2:18 PMI do the same thing and end up with a lot of similar colors. Nice singles :)
Posted by: Jen at December 10, 2006 2:52 PMWow, your fuzzy foot looks just like the slipper socks I made. Same color and everything.
I so want to learn to spin. The Tundra path is gorgeous.
Posted by: shadkitty at December 10, 2006 3:45 PMI just love that Alpaca/Corriedale. The colour is really gorgeous. I don't envy your choice of what to spin next since all your choices are equally lovely.
Posted by: Opal at December 10, 2006 4:43 PMOh, I vote for the all red/burgundy/pink fiber! I think that's going to have a subtlety to it that's just incredibly gorgeous.
Posted by: G. Knerd at December 10, 2006 11:47 PMIt would be great if you could felt the fuzzy feet with the recipient standing by--that way you'd just felt until they fit!
Posted by: Amy at December 11, 2006 12:14 PMWhen I gave Fuzzy Feet as a gift I gave them unfelted and then the recipients could use their feet as the blockers!
Posted by: BethC at December 11, 2006 12:43 PMI have that same thing with the colors. I realized the other day when I put all my recent purchases away that they were all red and orange. I guess I'm really hooked on those colors lately!
Posted by: Juls at December 11, 2006 2:52 PMThey will block pretty well by themselves. I made a pair for my nephew and thought I'd block with plastic bags or something, but the resulting fabric is fairly stiff and should be no problem to just shape.
Posted by: Jen at December 12, 2006 11:17 AMLove the purple!
Alpaca-corriedale sounds wonderful too. I really need to blend some of my alpaca.
Can't wait to see the finished yarn!
