Miscellany

My friend sent me a link to this video which is pretty cool. See, all my friends know I'm obsessed with knitting!

And lest you think I have no knitting memorabilia from the trip to Germany, I did manage to pick up a magazine from a bookstore. I'm still kicking myself for not buying that yarn in the gas station though! Strangely, the bookstore didn't have much of a book selection, and probably 50% of the books were about socks. I thought it was really cool that Last Minute Knitted Gifts, translated into German, was their most prominently displayed knitting book.

Verene

Here are some of the pages inside the Verena magazine:

Oh right, and the most exciting part of the trip home was Heathrow airport. You see, I had seen the best shoes on Amelia Raitte's (or do I say Anna's?) blog (scroll down), and I have been coveting them since then. She told me they are from Kurt Geiger's KG line, which unfortunately I can not find in the US, and they don't deliver here either. My hopes were raised when I read Crystal's post about an Ebay auction selling these shoes, but they were in the wrong size. You see, knitblogworld wants me to want these shoes.

So imagine my surprise when I was walking through the endless amounts of duty free shops in the airport and spotted the name Kurt Geiger out of the corner of my eye. They started announcing our flight, so I had to go, but I managed to buy the shoes as a total impulse purchase. I love them. And they even sort of fit (or will after a little bit of stretching). And they were on sale and duty free! How much better does it get?

This is London from above and through a lot of fog:

Because I'm a total dork:

And Iceland looks like you might expect:

We were knocked out cold by the time Greenland came, which is really sad because I tried so hard to stay awake to take pictures of Greenland. Ok, the next post will involve knitting, I swear! I did manage to work on some socks on that there plane.

That video totally just made my day.

Oh. My. Gosh. I am so jealous! I was brokenhearted when those shoes turned out to be the wrong size for me, and I still can't find my size anywhere. You are so lucky, they are just as divine as ever! I have to have a pair!

Nice pictures, too!

What a great video.

Erik loves watching that little screen that shows you where you are too. He could watch it for 8 hours straight, I think.

Cute shoes!!! I heart Heathrow airport, too. Much as we loved Italy, I was delighted to have my first take-out coffee in a month at the Heathrow Starbuck's (at 4:00am, no less).

Exciting to see the Faeroe Islands on the screen (I could watch that almost the whole flight!)

I love those flight moniter screens too! I always like to see exactly where we are. And those shoes are to die for...lucky you!

One of the women in my knitting group has a subsciption to Verena, and we love to drool over the magazine when it arrives. How how I wish my knitting moved at the speed of that video!

those are some hot shoes! looks like you'll be stylin' in no time (once you get them all stretched out and comfortable!)

I adore those shoes. The heels are to die for! I'll be in London over Christmas and New Years (DH's parents live just outside of London) and I might have to look for a pair. I'm also loving the blue sweater and tie in the German knitting mag. Sounds like it was a fabulous trip.

It is all about the shoes, and shoes on sale that are duty free - does it get any better than that!?! Fabulous! Jealous here.

Thanks for the fun film! DD#1 and I loved it!
