They say fiber is good for you

Well, I hope fiber is good for me, because there's getting to be a bit of it around here.

On Wednesday I came home sick from work, and you'd think that if anything would make me feel better, it would be this:

cashmere1

You know, they really need to work on this computer technology, because you can't feel that. But if you could, you'd understand. It's cashmere. From Gryphon, who is following her dream and has opened a spinning shop (check out her bunnies!). This stuff is soooooo soft, people. I'm hoping to spin it into laceweight and make a shawl.

Also in the package was about a pound of this:

alpacacorrie2

This is two colors of the alpaca/corriedale mix that I had Gryphon blend together for me. She's also making yarn with this fiber.

So far, I've spun up about 4 ounces (hello, so much faster than sock weight was going!), and here's a bit of my progress:

alpacacorrie4

I'm hoping for a worsted weight 3 ply out of this stuff, and I think I'm on track for that.

I was going to show more pictures of my Sheep 2 Shoe kit now that it's all dried, but I think that might be overkill.

When did this turn into a spinning blog? Must have been when Cookie wasn't looking.

Yay, spinning blog! The alpaca/corriedale is looking good! I can't wait to see it in person!

Um, I'm not sure if this is ok to ask you here, but I've just seen your pomatomus socks, and they blew my mind! But I was wondering if the scaly pattern had a version that would work on a 2-dimansional piece? Like a shawl? (Maybe it does already and I didn't notice because I'm not very savvy in the knitting by pattern bit - if so, tell me, so that I'll use the one given).

Thank you very much!
Alexa.

Cashmere? Alpaca/Corriedale? *swoon* Spinning blog? Yay! I'm all for it! You are one talented spinner -and- knitter.

I haven't had the pleasure of spinning cashmere yet. I can imagine though... And the alpaca-corriedale mix looks pretty yummy too. I have been spining some fatter yarn too and it's a nice break from the sock weight.

If spinning cashmere is anything like wearing it, it must be heaven!

The purples and blues of the new fiber are so pretty!

Something wrong with spinning? Your yarn is gorgeous! I wish I could feel that too, the thought of all that softness is very soothing, have fun!
