So I've loved the poofy sleeve craze ever since I saw it, and I keep meaning to make a sweater with poofy sleeves for ages. The time has come:
That's one unblocked sleeve down, and I am determined to finish this sweater in time to wear to the Yarn Harlot outing tomorrow. And here is a closeup of the back detail.
For those of you who are interested in meeting up with us for an afternoon picnic, here is some info:
We will lunch on the grass near the library/civic center, near the intersection of San Antonio and Main St. You will have to cross San Antonio St (Rd?) to get there. There are actually several grassy areas, and I'm not sure which one will be most fitting, but hopefully a group of knitters won't be too hard to spot. It will probably be useful to bring something to sit on should the grass be damp.
EDIT: Here's is a picture of Los Altos. The red circle is where the Yarn Harlot event takes place, and the blue rectangle is the area with grass. Image stolen from Google hybrid maps. Click for larger.
I'll send out my cell phone number to everyone who expressed interest, in case you arrive late or can't find us. I will be wearing the poofy sleeved sweater whether or not I finish the other sleeve by tomorrow, and I have a little bit of blue in my hair, so that will hopefully be recognizable. See you all tomorrow!
Wow! That poofy sleeve is gorgeous, as is the rest of the sweater. Do I smell a potential pattern for sale?
Posted by: Gina at September 8, 2006 12:58 PMGorgeous sweater. My first sweater I knitted for a friend, had puffed sleeves, but, um, not on purpose.
Your post also reminded me of the story of Anne and Green Gables, who wanted puffed sleeves for her dress, and Marilla wouldn't make them as they were a waste of perfectly good fabric.
Posted by: Rebekah at September 8, 2006 1:32 PMWow, that sweater is beautiful! And I LOVE the skirt, too. Hope you finish in time.
Posted by: Kelly at September 8, 2006 1:53 PMThat looks really cute! I don't think it looks at all too short on you, by the way.
Posted by: Abigail at September 8, 2006 3:48 PMDude, fantastic outfit. You should wear it out of the house (if you haven't been).
Stunning top as always.
Posted by: freecia at September 8, 2006 5:36 PMIt takes a figure like that to wear a smokin' sweater like that. Very cool! Sorry I'll miss the Harlot.
Posted by: Jo at September 8, 2006 8:19 PMGreat sweater! Right now it fits in with all those '80s retro clothes -- asymmetrical. So you can wear it even if it's not done with pride!
Posted by: Elspeth at September 8, 2006 10:04 PMGreat job on the sweater! I am a sucker for v-necks, especially the super deep v's that are hot right now.
Posted by: Laura at September 9, 2006 7:10 AMThat sweater's simply smashing :-D
*whines* I want to see The Harlot! It's totally not fair. I'm always out of town or have some other event I can't get out of (i.e. wedding, or baby shower) when she comes to my state. hmph.
