Hello, what's this?
I'm proud to introduce you to my design, which I am naming Sarcelle. Sarcelle means "teal" (as in the duck, not as in the color -- though this is your first clue that the color is off in this picture). Once I found out there was a bird named the blue-winged teal, I had to go with something related to that. Sarcelle is a shawl that I personally plan on debuting at my brother's wedding. It is knit in Merino Oro (color 45) (this is clue #2 that the color is off in my picture), and I really, really, really love it. It turned out just the way I had hoped.
Being a bad blogger, I got too excited about blocking and forgot to take the "just off the needles" shot. This is sort of sad, because I would love to show you just how much the pattern "bloomed" with blocking.
Some of you may be wondering why you haven't seen all of Sarcelle's moments from conception to this point. I really took a while to figure out what I wanted to do with this pattern when I was done. I considered submitting to a magazine, and so I kept the design secret just in case. After much (and I do mean *much*) hemming and hawing, I have decided that I will be offering this pattern up for sale. So, if you're interested, please be watching the blog for more info. Cookie and I plan on doing a little photo shoot soon -- I'll post more pictures then.
Sarcelle is gorgeous... definitely one that I will have to purchase the pattern for!

Posted by: blueprairie at July 28, 2006 12:06 PMThat is a wickedly cool pattern, I can't wait to buy it. Could you give us a little info on what weight yarn, needle size and yardage requirments, I'm going to place a cashmere yarn order from the UK place Cookie was raving about and would like to get some yarn for it from them.
Posted by: misslunablu at July 28, 2006 12:14 PMYes. I must buy it right now. Without delay. I have spent all morning surfing and flipping through my mags/books for the perfect lace wrap pattern, and this is it!!
My oldest niece's name is Teal. My bro insists she's named after the duck, my SIL says it's the color. We may never know. hahahaha.
