I meant to post. Really I did. But somehow going to Seattle for 4 days and then getting back to work just slowed me down. Then having Cookie try and shame me in to posting just made me drag my feet. I'm just one of those contrary kind of gals. Learn a lesson, missy, learn a lesson.
So, about the knitting. I seem to be unable to make knitting decisions without Cookie. I'm a co-dependent knitter! Or just dependent, or something.
I started this sock for the plane ride to Seattle, right? And I kind of liked the idea of this traveling rib thingy and I love the Socks that Rock and yay, I was knitting a sock again. But something just wasn't right. It's not right! I can admit it to myself now, but somehow not then.
Look here:
I don't like the way it's pooling. And I think it's too big. Note that these two problems could cancel each other out -- fewer stitches would mean different pooling at least. But no. I just kept knitting, thinking I didn't want to rip it out and I would just ask Cookie what she thought when she got back.
I even asked the DH what he thought -- he liked it! Ok, more reason to just set my own personal feelings about my own personal sock aside.
Here's a pic showing the pattern better. I do like the pattern. It's a travelling rib every third rib. I'm going to play with it to have it do something even more fun if I ever rip it out and start over again ...
So I was at knitting on Thursday, telling Anabel about this sock and how I couldn't even make a decision without talking to Cookie and so I had started a different sock just waiting for Cookie to get back. But as I explained the whole thing to Anabel, I realized how crazy it was. I don't like the sock!
I'll rip it soon. After I finish the socks I started instead.
Clearly, shaming you into posting just made you dig in your heels (no pun intended) and forgo it entirely. Welcome back!
Posted by: Gina at May 1, 2006 8:53 AMThat's a great colorway, almost self striping, sorta. I get indecisive about stuff like that sometimes...do I like it? I mean, but do I really like it? It's nuts when I snap out of it and just admit it's not for me!
Posted by: Juls at May 1, 2006 12:26 PMWas it the look on Anabel's face that made you realize how crazy it was? ;)
Posted by: Abigail at May 1, 2006 7:18 PMI'm one of those people really in favour of pooling, but in this case it does kind of conflict with the cabling...
Where'd you get that cool traveling rib pattern? Or did you make it up? Please let me know.
