Stitches Mania

Ever wonder what it's like at Stitches before the doors open? Here's a glimpse into the pre-Stitches life. There are boxes EVERYWHERE! And Yarn!

Before Stitches

Here's the Blue Moon Fiber Arts booth full of Socks that Rock yarn *before* it got raided:

Socks that Rock

Full Thread Ahead's booth. Hollis is in there somewhere... Can you spot her?

Where's Hollis?

I like Hollis because she's always so cheerful. Her booth has exclusive yarns from Cherry Tree Hill. I can tell she's put a lot of thought into how to organize her booth. The grab-and-go kits are especially convenient.

Uncommon Threads did socks last year, and now it's handbags. I like their dramatic use of color and focus on one type of project.

And then I found out I wasn't supposed to be taking pictures. Oops! Please don't report me to the authorities!

I spent so much time at Stitches yesterday, I didn't get much knitting done. I've been trying to come up with ideas for how to photograph a circular project while it's still on the needles. Ideally something inflatable would be great, but I'd need a really big balloon and lots of lung capacity for that. Instead I found the perfect thing. Something nice and squichy that's broader but flat: A pillow! Of course, it's not stretched out evenly, but this gives some idea of what the Rose of England is looking like.

Here's what it looks like from the back. Yep, I squished that pillow through that tiny little hole.

And here's an attempt to show what it looks like on the needles. I like the part of the pattern that I'm at right now. This picture is a bit overexposed. The other two are more representative of the actual color of the yarn.

And here's where I am:

Okay, I might have to revise my opinion that you were definitely not going to finish. Look at you go!

I'll see you at the booth tomorrow. :)

Wow you've made a lot of progress, I'm impressed, and waaaaaaaahhhhh I want to go to Stitches. Maybe one year I'll go to the one in Chicago.

I do see Hollis! I hope there is some Socks that Rock when I get there tomorrow! If not at least I got some when I was in Portland!

I looked for you today at the booth, but guess you already got your fill yesterday. I was amazingly restrained, but it was tough. I was also bitter about the no pictures thing, though I see you managed! I'm now feeling a little hungover from Stitches, but happy as I knit with my new purchase :)

The Rose of England is looking great. I'm amazed at your progress. I took a break from SW today, but will be there tomorrow--maybe I'll see you there.
