Oh yeah, it's VD

I knew that Valentine's Day was coming up because Stitches West always happens around then. (Can you tell I'm an obsessed knitter?) J and I decided to preempt the crowds and went out to sushi last night. It was divine, and I'm a little sad that we don't get to go tonight because they're serving some pretty fancy things like Kobe beef (actually I think he might have said Mishima) and hairy crab. It sounds delicious! I have no idea what fishes we ate except for salmon and toro. They were all damn good though. Best. Toro. EVER. J was so stuffed, he couldn't eat another bite. It was cute.

With our spontaneous VD plans, I took it easy on the Olympic knitting and managed to finish 6 rounds. That brings me to almost 40% of the way done. After reading Monkeemaven's post about tracking her progress with a spreadsheet, I decided to make one of my own for the Rose of England. The numbers were way higher than I was expecting. No wonder even the plain rows take so long!!! Eunny of Eunny Knits is also using a spreadsheet to track her progress. It's the trend, apparently. And speaking of Monkee and Eunny, I've made a new folder in my bloglines feeds for "Psychotic Olympians", i.e. any olympic knitter aiming to knit over 80K stitches with allover lace, cables or colorwork. I haven't found that many psychotic olympic knitters with regularly updated blogs and pictures. If you know of any, tell me so I can obsessively track them too!

It doesn't look like very much progress. 4480 stitches.

Knitting Olympics Day 4

Love the lace. You certainly picked an ambitious project for the olympics. How many stitches around right now? (It makes my hands hurt just thinking about it.)

4480 stitches is a lot of progress.

Go Cookie!

Ohhh, would you mind sending me the name of the place you went for dinner? I'm a Japanophile. I mean, come on, good food, neat gadgets, AND they have their own yarn companies. Plus public transport to knit it all on.

I keep thinking of the line from the Eminem song:

"Tell the whole world that you gave eminem VD!"

Heh. VD. I'm like a 12 year old.

Holy moly that is a lot of stitches!

Hehehe, that could be my new motto: "Psychotic Olympic knitting since the late 80's" :)

But you're right, it's hard to find updates on the bigger projects. Most of the time people seem to have forgotten the whole thing or switched onto something less time-consuming.

Girl - that's amazing! Will you mount it and frame it? I know I would! Hope to drop in to Stitches (just bought my ticket) and catch you and K at the lace knitter's booth.
