extremely slow WIP

To avoid flare-ups and the like with my wrist, I am basically stuck with one or two rows a day for now. The foregoing makes the following story much more annoying than it would normally be.

I want to knit this pattern that I got at Stitches from Tess' Designer Yarns. Cute, isn't it (this is a poor picture, trust me, it's cute)?

But the "dress" is for a boy, so I've been working on some slight modifications. There will be no shaping at the bottom, and it will be shorter. And as long as I'm at it, it's going to be top-down and in the round. Brilliant, right?

Unfortunately, I'm not brilliant. I tried to be better, though. For once, I knit a swatch. I was worried that the Rowan cotton glace wouldn't be appropriate, that it would shrink, that it couldn't be washed, etc. So I swatched and washed and dryed. Yes, the yarn shrinks. About 10% lengthwise. But it holds up well to washing and drying (despite the label saying the contrary). Here's my nice swatch:

So then in my attempts to do my mods I made several false starts until I finally settled on a number to cast on. Then I knit several rows. Then I went looking for my circular size 4s (I was using straights until I get to the end of the button band), and realized ...

... I was using the wrong-sized needles. Doh!

And I started again.

*sigh*

You're knitting! Yay! Even if it's slow as molasses. Sure beats going insane!

How frustrating. :(

Ugh only knitting a few rows a day, would be very slow going. But your right, it's a very cute pattern. I'm sure it will come out fantabulous.

I'm doing the slow knitting routine too - luckily mine is just stockinette/reverse stockinette. I feel for you though!

Hooray, you're knitting again! The dress is very cute. And I'm impressed you swatched. I'm sure the knitting Gods are happy (even if they frustrated you with the whole wrong size needles thing). Best of luck with this project!

I'm all for adjusting and rewriting patterns, but it does seem they require at least four false starts. Good luck and take it slow!

I like the pattern and the mods sound really cool. Can't wait to see it. It was really great to see you last night. Thanks again for inviting us out to pizza. It was soooooo good!
