Sock!

I couldn't resist. I knit a sock using the Shepherd Sock when I should have been working on my stole. Here are too many pictures:

You see, Lynette posted questioning a sock pattern for a size 6 1/2 shoe which calls for 9 1/2 inches. I have weird shaped feet (short and absurdly broad), but I'm pretty sure the length of my feet is about 6 1/2 or 7, but I usually wear a size 7 1/2 shoes because my feet are too damn wide to fit in anything smaller. Having just made this sock, I measured it at just under 8 inches. Now my question is, did I make my sock too short or is the pattern wrong? Look at the heel and tell me if that looks like it fits right, because it feels like it fits right, but what do I know?

I also found this page that has shoe sizes and foot length. So I measured my foot, and yep it's 9.5 inches long which falls right between a 6 1/2 and 7. But I still think the 8 inch long sock fits about right. Should the turn of the heel sit farther up the heel? At most that's an extra half inch. Hunh.

Looks good! I think it looks like it fits you well. Just for reference, here's a chart: http://www.payless.com/en-US/Consumer/CustomerSupport/Finding_Size.htm

It claims that a size 6 1/2 shoe is 9 3/16 inches long. FWIW.

Thanks for the confirmation on the foot size. I'll finish my sock today.

In the left picture it looks like the heel starts a wee bit too soon, but the other two pictures look fine. I say if they're comfy, then they're the right size!
