This is what I get for being evil

Sorry, K!!!

I ordered some yarn last week for Xmas presents. I got three hanks of Colinette Point 5 in the color Popsicle. Two were for K, and one was going to be knit into a hat for the future sister-in-law. Well. When the yarn arrived, I realized it didn't look quite like I expected it to. I thought it was going to be more yellow like the picture suggested:

Instead two hanks were definitely orangy and the other one was more yellow. I know K likes orange, but I wanted it to be *yellow* which she likes more, and it wasn't. I deliberated for a few days and decided to make a scarf with the two orange hanks for the future SIL and then decide later if I wanted to give K the other hank or make a hat with that.

My reasoning was this.

A. Point 5 really should be knit garter stitch for scarves (trust me, I experimented painfully) or stockinette for round things on hugeass needles which makes for super-fast-but-not-so-fun knitting. I could find something with more knitting pleasure.

B. One or two hanks is really only enough for a hat or a scarf. I wouldn't make a bag with it because the thin parts of the yarn knit up holey. K couldn't possibly use a thick warm wool scarf or hat in California. She would die from the heat, especially in her car that has no A/C.

So I started knitting the scarf, and despite having read the suggestion that I knit with two hanks, alternating every few rows, for color evenness, I somehow convinced myself that the two orangy hanks were about the same in color. Bwahahahaha. (That is sound of half laughter, half bawling.) This is what I have:

The right side definitely has brighter cooler colors (blue, orange) while the left side has warmer tones (plum, olivy green, warmer ornage). I think I should frog and start over. Sigh.

I should also say that K, I think you would really like the colors in this scarf, and it looks so damn cool that I myself am now coveting it. But let's be realistic here, you would never actually wear it, right? And I am very sad to report that the woman I bought it from is out of it. I know there are other sources, but good god, not for the price I got it at. Don't worry, I'll find better yarn to give you. I hope.
