Sometimes I have to wonder why I decide to do things. So I started knitting that lace and I was doing all well, I was up to row 36! And then, and then, I started KNITTING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. You know, I was knitting around in a circle, and somehow it got turned upside down and that just wasn't right. So I tried to tink back a bit, but that wasn't going to happen. So.
I had to rip. I had to rip back to row 24. Sigh. That was the last row where it was all knits for a while, so it was the only place I trusted myself.
I'm back up to row 36 now, and I put in a safety line at 34. I'm not sure if my safety is any good though, as it is thread, and it seems all jumbled up in there. Perhaps something a little thicker? Any tips? It was a pain in the butt to put the safety line in too.
Anyway, here's a pic:
It's a little fuzzy. I guess things on size 0 needles are a bit small. Anyway, I think it measures somewhere around 3 inches across right now. It's fine, but time-consuming.
Finally, I'm almost done with my socks, I just haven't really been working on them. Here's the pic:
I just have to cast off and weave in ends. I love them and am really excited to wear them!
My safety line always looks wacky, too. But as long as it's longer than your work, you're okay. I use hand-quilting thread.
Posted by: Laura at October 17, 2004 1:12 PMI love your socks! I wonder if knitting my Lorna's Laces yarn into socks would count as one of my three projects, but somehow it doesn't seem like socks are a big stash reduction even though they take as much knitting as a sweater.
Posted by: c at October 17, 2004 6:40 PMI'm about ready to put my second safety line in, so I guess I'll just do it as planned. Thanks for the tip, Laura.
I love how C acts like some greater authority has put this stash reduction goal on her. It counts if you say it counts, silly!
