goodies

Sorry! Been busy! Here's a quick update before I'm off again.

First, I got more stuff from my Secret Pal! A bunch of lime Crystal Palace yarns. I really like them and am wondering if I have enough to make something crazy like legwarmers with them. (Would that be too crazy?) My calves are disproportionately large, you see. Here's a HORRIBLE picture of them. There's no light these days (raining now), and I foolishly took a picture with a light pink background which makes the green look awful, but these greens are fabulous.

Second, there is no way I can make the Oct. 15 deadline for a Knitty submission, so I'm giving up that dream. Part of the reason is that I got heavily distracted by this:

That's recycled silk sari yarn that I ordered online. It's gorgeous! I'm knitting it along with the fuschia lace weight mohair I bought on my California trip. Unfortunately, I've reached the end of the mohair, so I'm not sure if I should proceed with one of the other colors of laceweight mohair that I have (pink and grey), or if I should search for a better matching mohair.

In the meantime, I went back to the Aran sweater:

Not so much progress on that sweater there, but it's coming along. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with the sleeves, but I don't want it to be boxy with drop shoulders. I have a ways to knit and think about that. Phew.

Yay for Secret Pals, huh? I would go with another color of mohair that you already have. It looks colorful enough that it would work. And you just gave me a great idea. I have a ton of mohair leftover from a lace shawl and I couldn't decide what to mix with it, but that silk is perfect!!

Oh yeah, would raglan sleeves work with your aran sweater? I love raglans.
