Finally, we got DSL! The new place has tried my patience a bit... The people who work here, quite frankly, suck.
For instance, when the landlord complained that there were four missing lightbulbs in the small bathroom, what did they do? They took four lightbulbs from the master bathroom and put them in the small bathroom. Brilliant.
When we told them that the washing machine vibrated way too much (it basically shook the entire building a gazillion times worse than DDR), they decided to try leveling it by adding little pieces of plywood underneath some of the legs. Uh... The legs are adjustable. And the leveling wasn't the problem. Afterwards, we read through the manual and figured out they didn't do step 1: remove shipping bolts. That fixed the problem.
Not to mention getting the phone and intercom system to work. And it'd be really nice if they could get a working oven and microwave. Living off the toaster oven and stove only gets me so far. I want to dye yarn in the microwave, DAMMIT.
Instead, I've been doing the good old fashioned stovetop method in the meantime. The current theme is 70s colors, so I've got an orange (which is way more red than I expected), a brown, and a bright green (like my current bag). I'm going to make myself a new bag with the green (that's R&M wool) and felt it because the old one has gotten quite dirty.
The brown and orange (and I'm currently boiling some pink on the stove) are 4/8 wool from WEBS. Those will make something stripy. Maybe felted mittens, a hat, or another bag.
As for this felting craze, I decided to start a small side project last night: a felted toy for kitty. Felting in the sink was pretty easy, but probably because it was such a small thing. I'm not sure I'd want to do a bag in the sink. Right now it's still drying and awaiting catnip filling. I hope she likes it.
So knitting update: I knit a scarf using some nice lemongrass colored wool blend yarn I got from Midwest Discount Yarns (part of K's and my yarn shopping spree). It's knit in garter and vertical drop stitch. It's pretty. Also, I've begun a jacket using some icelandic type wool I got from Midwest Discount Yarns and the Barrington mohair from WEBS. It's got bobbles. Teehee. I've finished the front left and front right. I was too impatient to dye the yarn first, so I might dye it afterwards, or maybe I'll leave it wintery white/off-white.
Pictures eventually...
I should really go ahead and put my pics up. I have lots of updating to do! But that means I have to take pics ...
