I am just putting pictures of a couple of the different colors we did for now. I need to get better pics of some of them.
Our first day, we tried small batches of a lot of different things. We have 4 oz. of this lovely wool:
We also have 4 oz. of this even brighter wool:
On Tuesday, we finally washed out the cotton that we had done on the first day, and here's a pic of one of them, again we have 4 oz. of it. Enough to do a hat I'd say. This is a nice blue and purple.
Finally, on the third day we started making larger batches that might be more useful for larger projects. We have several colors in cotton that we have 22 oz. of, and some wool with 8-12 oz. These are the wools. The bluish/grayish one we have 12 oz. of, the magenta we have 8 oz. of, and the BRIGHT green/yellow, we have 10 oz. of.
We'd love to hear feedback and comments from everyone ... we think they turned out rather well. Later I'll put up pictures of more of the cotton that we have larger batches of ...
They look great! The brighter the better! What type of dye did you use?
Posted by: Laura at March 30, 2004 6:33 PMLaura- We used synthetic powder dye. You can see an outdated info page using the Gallery link on the left. The wool we have pictures of in the Gallery is not the wool we used though. We didn't get around to dyeing that wool. :) I should update that page soon with thoughts about dyeing.
K- the pics are great! I like how the yarns are sitting on that beautiful couch. :)
I liked the way they all turned out except the BRIGHT green/yellow is definitely on the flourescent side. It's hard to figure out how big the yarn is from the pictures. Think you could take one with a ruler or something? I should try taking a picture of the vest I'm making using yarn we dyed for a sense of how it knits up. But I just took some Nyquil and will be passing out soon.
