Workout: Yoga Burn
Author: chaos
I seem to have caught a bit of a stomach virus. My stomach was pretty queasy all day yesterday, and so I ended up deciding to take the day off. It was doing somewhat better today, although it was still somewhat off. However, I decided that it wasn’t enough of an issue to prevent me from doing my workout, so I went ahead and got one in. Decided to go with yoga burn again today… I was originally thinking about total body, but ended up deciding it might be a little too vigorous. It was a pretty good workout… not quite as good as the one I did on Sunday, but still pretty decent. I think my focus was a little off, but I’ve been a little off my game for the past two or three days, so that wasn’t surprising. Anyway, I’m hoping to be over this little problem in the next day or two… I may hold off on abs workouts until I am over it, though, which could effect what I do tomorrow. So I guess I’ll just see then.

Workout: Power Yoga: Stamina, Power Yoga: Strength
Author: chaos
I was definitely feeling better today. Not quite back to full health, but getting closer. However, I did push myself a little hard yesterday with both the yoga workout and Stepmania after that, so I decided to go ahead and take it a little easier today. Not too much, though… ended up going with the combination of stamina and strength. It felt pretty good, overall… I had fairly decent focus for the most part, which definitely helped. I was feeling a little bit tired by the end of the strength workout, but not terribly so. It’s possible that I even could have done the flexibility workout, but since the point was for me to take it a little easier tonight, that didn’t seem like a particularly wise idea. Really, I think it would have been a bit much anyway… I think my technique would have started to suffer by the end. Anyway, since I seem to have been getting steadily better over the past couple of days, I’m hoping that I’ll pretty much be back to full strength tomorrow. I’ll most likely try to do pilates abs and hip opening again, if that’s the case, since it’s been a little longer than I like to go since I’ve last done abs. Held off today because the stomach is still a tiny bit off, so hardcore abs seemed less than ideal. Anyway, I’m sure I’ll be getting something in tomorrow, so until then…

Ended up deciding to go with YCfA today. I was really in the mood for a full workout, so decided to hold off on abs for yet another day. The workout went pretty well overall, and had a couple of high points. When I was doing warrior I to the left, I somehow managed to get my back leg situated such that it felt like that was exactly the way I was supposed to be holding it. I’m not quite sure I’ve ever had that feeling before on warrior I. I’m not actually sure I yet have the hip flexibility to achieve that feeling on the right. Anyway, later on in the stretching section I had some really good stretches in the hips and groin area. I don’t know that it was better than ever before, but certainly some of the best stretching I’ve had in those areas. Perhaps all my working out lately is helping me become more flexible. I think for tomorrow I’m going to go ahead with the abs workout, even if I feel like doing another full workout, just to make sure I get it in at some point. Although really, the point of abs is to build abdominal strength for other exercises, so if I feel more like doing those… well, whatever. I’ll do something tomorrow, almost certainly. So until then…

Workout: Abs Conditioning: Pilates, Advanced Yoga: Hip Opening
Author: chaos
Although my abs were feeling a little bit tired, I decided to go for the pilates abs workout today anyway. In retrospect, perhaps I should have gone for one of the other pilates workouts, or perhaps balanceball. But, hindsight and all that. It wasn’t really all that bad… I did have to sit out for a few of the double leg raises, and my overall technique wasn’t as good as it has been at other times, but it wasn’t terrible. I managed to struggle through, anyway. After that, apparently not having absorbed enough pain from the abs workout, I went ahead and got in the hip opening workout. I’m still not quite sure where that one stands currently… my right knee did ache a little bit at a few points, but not to the sharp level of pain that accompanied the original injury. I was quite focused on opening the hips today, which seemed to be fairly successful. I think a number of these workouts are having a positive impact in that area, although clearly this one is going to be the most concentrated. Anyway, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, it’s time to get back to the longer workouts, I think. For tomorrow I’ll probably do either total body or intermediate yoga, depending on when I actually get around to doing the workout. So until then…

Workout: Power Yoga: Total Body
Author: chaos
I wasn’t quite feeling ready for the workout last night, and then I ended up procrastinating too long and not getting the workout in during the “day”. Which wasn’t ideal, but wasn’t terrible because I had been thinking of taking a short break anyway, just to let my body recover a little bit more. So I decided to get in an earlier workout tonight. I’ll probably catch up later with a short stretching workout, most likely after some Stepmania. That’s the plan for right now, anyway.
The workout itself was decent, although tiring. I was hoping that the extra rest would have let me recover a bit more of my endurance, but my shoulders still got tired pretty quickly. Glad I wasn’t trying to do intermediate yoga, I don’t think I would have gotten very far. Despite experiencing some fatigue, I was still able to get in the complete workout, save one upward bow. I probably could have done that as well, but I just wasn’t feeling ready for it. I did notice today that even if my legs are feeling tired, as long as I can get past the warrior I set, the other two exercises really don’t require that much leg strength or endurance. They’re really more about balancing, overall. It’s good to note, because it makes it a lot more likely that I’ll get through that section now. I didn’t feel quite as flexible today as I did the other day with the YCfA workout, but that’s not unexpected… that kind of thing comes and goes. Anyway, presuming I do get in my short workout later sometime, I’ll probably go with an abs/short workout combo tomorrow… possibly hip opening for the short workout, although I might decide to take a break from that. It’s good, but I don’t want to overdo it and injure a knee again or anything like that. We’ll see. Until later…

Workout: Yoga Conditioning for Athletes: Mini-workouts
Author: chaos
As expected, I went with a light stretching workout to return to schedule. I played about an hour or so of Stepmania, and then went in for my normal set of mini-workouts. I noticed that I was already feeling some soreness from the total body workout, so I’m hoping that perhaps doing this workout will mitigate some of that. Other than that, very little to say about the workout… given the amount I’ve been pushing in the last couple of weeks, it was hardly even noticeable as a workout. Which is a good thing, it means I’m making some progress. Not that it’s ever been a hard workout (barring injuries, anyway), but if I wasn’t writing this entry, I’d probably be hard pressed to remember I had done the workout in a few days. Anyway… I think tonight I’ll probably try and go with abs and a light workout, but I’m not sure in what combination yet. I think I might go with balanceball and something… I think I could use a break from pilates abs, and I don’t think that I’ve done balanceball for a little while. As much of a while as just about anything else, anyway. I’m favoring doing the hip opening workout again, but we’ll see how my legs feel later… I might want to back off on that.

Workout: Abs Conditioning: Balanceball, Advanced Yoga: Hip Opening
Author: chaos
As I expected, I went with abs balanceball today. It was a pretty good workout… I’m not sure if some of the difficulty comes from the fact that my abs are tired from constant activity, or if it’s really just that difficult, but I definitely felt the burn today. I used to think the the beginning of the workout was pretty easy, but it’s been quite a while since I felt that way… I’d like to think that’s because my technique has improved. I still think the middle of the workout is fairly easy, but I think that’s because it actually is. The end is still reasonably tough, though. It’s a good workout.
Anyway, after the balanceball workout, decided to go ahead with the hip opening workout. I worry that I’m going to strain something or injure my knee again doing the workout often, but it seems okay thus far. I think I’m going to start subbing something for the log stacking poses, though, at least for now. Maybe extra half lotus practice or something. Although my knee has felt like it could start aching a few times during the last couple of practices, it’s ended up being fine both times, so maybe it’s not a big deal. But caution probably isn’t a bad idea there. I think part of the reason I like this workout is because it forces me to be mentally present, monitoring and adjusting my body, and trying to be very active in opening my body up, particularly the hips (go figure). My sleep schedule is a little out of whack lately, but I’m going to try to get something in a little earlier tomorrow night, maybe YCfA or something like that.

Workout: Intermediate Yoga
Author: chaos
Well, I didn’t come to this workout quite in the way that I was intending, which was an earlier workout yesterday and then this workout today. I instead missed the workout yesterday, largely because of my rather odd sleeping schedule over the last couple of days. Well, yesterday, for certain values of yesterday. Anyway, since I was doing the workout during an appropriate time of the day, went ahead and got in the intermediate workout. It was somewhat of a mixed bag in terms of performance… I did better during the first section than I have been. I’ve even been getting somewhat into revolved triangle pose the last couple of times I’ve done this workout. Now that I’m starting to get that one, though, I realize just how much hip flexibility it requires. Pretty crazy amount, really. Anyway, that was the fairly good part. For the inverted poses, I was able to get into them all, but I wasn’t able to hold them for very long, except for headstand. Headstand was actually pretty easy in terms of getting up, but I couldn’t find my balance away from the wall today, which was a little annoying. But, since I seemed to be a bit weak all around, perhaps not all that surprising. Overall, definitely not a bad workout. I should try to get it in a little more often, just for the practice. I did want to note that I think I’ll take a week or two off from the hip opening workout… while I don’t think it’s really damaging the knee any more, I don’t think it’s beneficial to the healing process, either. Hopefully the other workouts will help me continue to work on my flexibility without straining the knee. Not quite sure when I’ll be sleeping, so it’s hard for me to say when I’ll work out next, but hopefully sometime later tonight or early tomorrow I’ll get something in.

Workout: Yoga Conditioning for Athletes
Author: chaos
Trying to get back to my normal yoga schedule with this workout. I suppose I have, somewhat, since it’s currently “night”, at least in terms of my sleeping. I’d like to get back to the point where I am largely doing my workouts at night, but that’ll probably be a few more days still, at least. It would help if it were a little less cold at night, although I think it’s supposed to be the next couple of nights. Anyway, thought about doing the yoga burn workout, but decided instead to get some stretching in with the YCfA workout. This workout doesn’t seem overly challenging most of the time lately, which is fine, and yet it still provides solid work, and requires a good amount of effort to finish. It also works nicely on my flexibility, at least now that I’m aware of it. A solid workout, altogether. I suppose I’m not really making a whole lot of sense, but that’s because I’m pretty tired, so I think I’ll call it a “day” and go get some sleep. I’ll probably make another attempt to resync the schedule a little tonight, probably with abs and something.

And I’ve finally managed to get back towards my normal schedule with this workout. Not sure how long it’ll last, because my sleep schedule is still pretty crazy right now, but I’m going to try and hold to it. I do prefer getting to the workouts a little… earlier than I have been lately. So to speak, anyway. Anyway. Decided to go back to pilates abs today. It wasn’t as tough as I feared it might be. I mean, it was really tough, but it was a little bit easier than last time. I managed to fight my way through the entire workout this time, at least, although I’m sure my form suffered a bit near the end. I was feeling fairly drained after the workout, but decided to go ahead and get another workout in anyway. Not wanting to take it too easy, I decided to go with py:flexibility. That wasn’t too bad… it wasn’t the greatest, because I was definitely feeling the fatigue from the abs workout, but I think I did reasonably well. I need to start cleaning my mat more often, though. It’s getting slippery again, relatively speaking. For tomorrow… I think perhaps yoga burn. I don’t think I’m really feeling like doing total body again so soon. Perhaps I’ll come up with something else that I feel like doing more, though, so who really knows. Until then…

Workout: Yoga Burn
Author: chaos
As I was rather expecting to do, went for the yoga burn workout tonight. It was actually quite tough… I wasn’t too sure that I was going to make it through the entire thing. I really need to start monitoring my diet more closely… that’s really the only explanation I can come up with for this… difficulty I’m having with some of these workouts. While this isn’t an easy workout, it’s certainly not difficult enough that I should be worrying about getting through the entire thing. However, with my sleep schedule being somewhat skewed lately, it’s thrown my eating schedule off as well. I’ve been trying to make sure I eat at least three meals a day, but I’m not too certain I haven’t missed a few. Anyway. Not too much else to say about the workout… got it in a little later than I’d have liked, but I was having trouble motivating up for it. Not sure why. Anyway, don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow… maybe get in a pilates workout or something, give myself a bit of a break and see if I can come into the next long workout with some good energy. That’s what I’m thinking right now, we’ll see what actually happens.
Workout: Yoga Conditioning for Athletes: Mini-workouts
Author: chaos
In a rather surprising move, I decided to get in a bonus workout after my stepmania session today. I just felt the need to get some stretching in, I guess. Can’t really explain why I had this need today… maybe I just felt like getting the extra work in. Which is a little strange, since I was complaining about being having a tough time getting through the workout just a few hours ago. Of course, a stretching workout is a somewhat different animal than a strength type workout, so it’s perhaps not all that surprising. The nice thing about doing a stretching workout after a cardio workout is that all of the muscles are already warm, so they’re a little easier to stretch. Of course, that can get you into trouble as well, since it’s also easy to overextend them. But I try to avoid that. Anyway, it was nice to get an extra workout in… nice to see that I’m willing to do an extra workout. I’d hope that this means I’ll be slacking off a little less, but that’s not terribly likely. It might mean good things anyway, though… who knows. Still plan on doing something a little lighter tonight, perhaps pilates with py:stamina or something. Anyway, until then…

Workout: Intermediate Mat Workout, Power Yoga: Stamina
Author: chaos
I decided to try something a little bit different today. I started off my exercise with the pilates intermediate mat workout. That went pretty well, although I could certainly feel it in the abs. I’ll probably actually need to take a day or two off from abs work pretty soon to let them recover a bit. Possibly after tomorrow. I was pretty happy with the workout, though… felt like I did a pretty good job of staying in form. I still don’t like the leg kicks much, though. Anyway, after that I did some Stepmania. Wasn’t the greatest of sessions, but not too bad. Passed Dynamite Rave, which is a nine-footer, only the second one I’ve managed to pass, and definitely harder than the other one I’ve passed. After that, I did py:stamina for a stretching and cooling workout. I think it worked fairly well as that… notably, I did feel a little bit tired during it, which certainly isn’t from the workout itself. Nothing major, but noticeable. Anyway… I think I’ll probably go in for a little bit of slow work tomorrow, maybe yoga abs and YfS:s1, or something like that. Quite possibly take the day off from Stepmania, I think my toes could use a bit of healing time.

Workout: Yoga for Strength: session 1
Author: chaos
Taking it a little easier today with only a YfS:s1 workout and some Stepmania. I was originally planning on getting some abs in as well, but given the heavy abs work of the last week, it seemed like I’d probably be pushing it a little to get it in. So I just went with the first part of the workout, as it were. Went pretty well… I’m not sure how I can get my mat to be stickier, though. I have a lot of problems with my hands sliding during downward dog, especially if I have to hold it for very long. Perhaps more cleaning will help… I’m not really sure. Anyway, decided to go for a little bit longer with shoulderstand today… probably went for three or four minutes. I’d have to time it off the video to be sure. Didn’t actually feel all that tired after the workout. Did some Stepmania afterwards… I hadn’t originally planned to, but I was feeling fairly good. Didn’t challenge myself overly much today, as I wanted to take it a bit easier on the feet. Practiced a few different songs that I know have sections that I have trouble with. Slight improvement. If I keep practicing, I’ll eventually be pretty decent, I think. That’s all for now… not too sure what I’m going to do tomorrow. A longer workout, most likely, but no idea which one.

Workout: Yoga Conditioning for Athletes
Author: chaos
Had a very difficult time getting to this workout today. I’m not really certain why… just couldn’t summon the motivation for some reason. A bit frustrating, to be certain. I’ve been in a bit of an odd mood all day, though. Did some Stepmania early today… just felt like doing it then. No idea why. That wasn’t bad. Was going to do the yoga in the early afternoon, but just couldn’t quite make myself get to it. I’d like to say that I spent the time doing other productive things, but I really didn’t. I’ve been in a bit of an overall slump again the last week or so, and I need to climb back out again. Just get some stuff, keep moving on. Hopefully after spending much of today in being moody and full of angst, I’ll be able to move on tomorrow. Not that I really think it’s likely, but I can always hope.
So, the workout. It went surprisingly well, considering I felt fairly tired throughout most of it. I waited too long between eating and getting to the workout, so my energy levels were pretty low. I’m not entirely certain this was a bad thing, or at least not a completely bad thing… it meant I was trying to be more efficient in my movements, and yet still get the same results. Whether or not I was successful is an exercise left to… someone with more energy than I. No idea what I’m going to do tomorrow… still feeling a little drained right now, so I don’t feel like I’ll be up to anything. I’m certain by tomorrow I will though, so I guess I’ll just find out then.

Workout: Power Yoga: Total Body
Author: chaos
Motivational issues have been continuing over the last couple of days. Ended up missing the workout yesterday due to a few different factors. Not sure if I’ll “make it up” at some point or not. I’m not really sure where I’m going with my practice at the moment. I’ve been somewhat trying to work on my strength, but the thing is, I don’t really have any particular need for additional strength. I don’t do any sports in which greater strength will provide any advantage. I don’t need to be stronger to do a job. So the only potential benefit is perhaps looking a little more “buff”. And I’m really not certain that’s sufficient motivation. On the other hand, I do have a use for both greater flexibility and greater endurance. So I think I’m going to start shifting my focus somewhat. Probably deemphasizing the yoga a little bit, and perhaps increasing my cardio training. I’m not really certain yet, but I think this’ll probably happen. The time has come for me to admit that ultimate is really my focus, at this point in my life. While I think yoga is important, and I intend to keep up with it, it doesn’t fill a… need, the way that ultimate does right now. Not entirely certain what this is going to mean for the workouts… other than that I’ll probably be doing total body, the full complete workout, and YCfA more frequently, and probably be cutting back on some of the more strength oriented workouts. Possibly cutting back somewhat on workouts in general, depending on what kind of cardio workouts I’m getting in.
Somewhat ironically, I only did the short version of this workout today, doing the first section and then skipping to the last. While I started out with the intention of doing the complete workout, I realized pretty quickly that my energy levels weren’t where they really needed to be. I haven’t been doing the greatest job of eating the past few days, largely due to depression issues. I have this notion in my head that I don’t really need proper nutrition and rest, that I should still be able to function at full efficiency without them. While I’ve certainly been getting better about not believing that in the past year or so, I definitely still have times where I think that’s the case. Depression in particular often causes me to start skipping meals, because I just don’t feel like eating. Anyway… summary is that my energy levels were low, and while I’m fairly certain I could have pushed through anyway, I decided to actually listen to my body for a change, and take it a bit easier. That’s something else that I really need to start doing more of… listening to my body, particularly when it has injuries that need to heal. Not just paying attention, because I do that reasonably well, but actually listening, and not just ignoring what it’s telling me. I don’t know. My head is kind of a mess currently, but… this may actually be the start of something better. Or perhaps it’ll just be another blip on the radar. Only time will tell for sure. Not sure what workout I’ll do next… not even sure when I’ll do it, although tomorrow is a pretty likely candidate. So until next time…

Workout: Power Yoga: The Complete Workout
Author: chaos
For what I believe is only the second time ever, I did the complete set of stamina, strength, and flexibility today. It wasn’t really my original plan… I was thinking I’d probably go after total body again, or perhaps do some abs work. But I think this ended up being a fairly good choice… while the poses aren’t particularly difficult, getting through the entire workout does require some endurance. When done as a single workout, they come in right around 70 minutes, making it the longest workout I have. Admittedly, there’s more resting in the middle than there would normally be, due to the nature of the workout, so it probably balances out somewhat. I had an interesting experience during the strength section of the workout… right at the beginning, I had that “light limb” feeling, where it seemed like my limbs were just floating into place, particularly my arms. That was nice to experience again. But it was even more notable that as I went through the workout, while I still experienced that, I could feel the part of my shoulders that was getting fatigued. The rest of the shoulder still felt light, but that part felt… tired? Something like that. I need to figure out how to get my mat to retain stickiness throughout the workout. It usually starts out fine, but as my hands start sweating, it becomes difficult for me to keep them in place during downward dog. I think my attempts to do this are causing undue strain on my shoulders, which is why they’ve seemed more fatigued lately than it seemed like they should be. I am going to start trying to clean my mat more regularly, to see if that helps the problem. Well, that’s all for tonight… I think I’ll go for an abs workout tomorrow, probably in combination with something else. But possibly not… I’m not sure if I’m ready to do hip opening again quite yet, and I did the other likely candidates today. But maybe some mini-workouts or something. Oh yeah, one other note… after I finished the workout, I was trying to get my legs to flatten out in simple cross-legged pose. While experimenting with that, I realized that I really wasn’t far from putting the right leg in half lotus. So I decided to go ahead and do that. And it not only worked, but actually looked like a fairly convincing half lotus. It wasn’t very comfortable, but I’m fairly certain it’s the best half lotus I’ve done to date, and further evidence that I am making some progress with hip flexibility.

Workout: Abs Conditioning: Pilates
Author: chaos
When I first thought about switching the focus of my yoga workouts, I thought that I’d probably start taking it easier on the abs workouts as well. I’m not quite sure why I was thinking that… it was certainly a fairly ridiculous thought, anyway. Obviously abs work is very important for the core muscles, and it makes sense to have those developed as fully as possible, since it really helps prevent injuries, particularly in the back. Not that I have a history of back problems or anything, but I’d like to keep it that way. The workout today was fairly decent… I was pretty satisfied with my form overall. Particularly at the end of the workout, I think I was doing somewhat better than I normally do. After the pilates, got in around an hour or so of Stepmania. Nothing too exciting to report there… I continue to get a little bit better each time, or so it feels like. After that, cooled down with a little bit of light stretching, not even enough to really call it a workout. Just sequenced up whatever I felt inspired to do. Pretty much all slow… I was trying to stay focused. Don’t know that I did a great job with that, but… can’t worry about it too much. Not sure what I’ll do tomorrow… might depend on how I’m feeling. I’ve been a little low on energy the last couple of days, might be fighting off a cold. I’ll just play it by ear and see what develops. Until then…

Workout: Yoga Conditioning for Athletes: Mini-workouts
Author: chaos
Decided to take a few days off. A number of factors… motivation issues were still plaguing me, odd schedule, and my legs were just sore. I think some of the work in the previous week had been extending the hamstrings a little, and they were in a constant state of soreness. A little bit different than the normal fashion… a little bit hard to explain. I haven’t been entirely idle in that time, though… had a few Stepmania sessions in there. At least one pretty good one as well. Had another one tonight, but it wasn’t all that good. Parts were decent, but it was just frustrating overall. Oh well.
Anyway, decided to start getting back to the yoga by doing a stretching workout after Stepmania. I pushed my feet a little too hard tonight, so I had to take it pretty easy anyway. Did running, most of swimming, and half of all sports. I kind of ad-libbed the end, because I didn’t feel like running through the whole beginning part of all sports… didn’t really seem necessary. Not much to say about the workout, other than that my legs still feel a bit strained in the fuller stretches, like triangle. Not entirely certain what the problem is there. Hopefully it’ll clear up pretty soon… I might take a few more days off if it seems to be getting worse again. Perhaps not, though… ultimate season is starting in a few weeks, and I’m sure I’ll start cutting back then. So we’ll see. Going to try and get a workout in tomorrow… probably abs and maybe hip opening, since that will keep me off of my feet.

Workout: Abs Conditioning: Pilates
Author: chaos
Ended up missing another day of working out. I think I’m starting to get back towards the right mindset, though, which is good. Anyway, went with pilates abs today. It was pretty tough… don’t think I did quite as well as I did the last time I tried it. Still, not too horribly. Although I think I regressed a little… I had some sort of insight last time, but didn’t get the same thing this time. I might have to check and see if I wrote it down. Something to do with working the lower abs more, I think. Anyway. I was planning on doing the hip opening workout with it, but my knees weren’t overly happy today, so I decided to hold off on it. I do want to get back to it sometime soon, though. Haven’t played Stepmania the last two days due to the foot abuse last time, but I think I’ll be ready to play again tomorrow. I might try to do a little more… hmmm, exercise oriented in my attack, I guess I’d say. Maybe work on my footwork some, not try passing tough songs as much, but have a more continuous flow. Something like that. Hopefully I’ll get another workout in tomorrow, start to pick it up again.

I was originally thinking that I’d probably do total body today, but then ended up having some weird soreness in my left pectoral, and decided that I should probably hold off. I couldn’t figure out what the problem was, but I eventually realized that it was probably leaning on that side for several hours yesterday while playing games. Don’t know that I’ve ever had that happen before, but it’s quite possible I just never noticed. Anyway, played a lot of Stepmania tonight. Didn’t even realize it until I was done. I started out kind of slowly, which is to say with some easier songs, so it wasn’t as if I was playing at high intensity the entire time. Decided to go ahead and get a stretching workout in after that. It’s inevitable that I’m going to do a lot of the YCfA mini-workouts as stretching workouts during the ultimate season, but I’d like to get some more variety in this year. So today I went with py:flexibility. It was decent… I did notice the soreness a little bit, but not too much. It’s a little tough to do these workouts after Stepmania, because my feet are often sore afterwards. I should probably get back to doing the workouts beforehand. I did notice that I seemed a little extra flexible today in forward bending, and perhaps in general. Quite likely just because I was fully warmed up. Tomorrow… not sure. I’ve been having some trouble predicting what I’m going to do lately, so maybe I’ll just wait and see what happens.

Workout: Power Yoga: Total Body
Author: chaos
Decided to try something a little different again today. Started off by getting into the total body workout. It was pretty tiring… I wasn’t sure I was going to make it through a couple of parts. I felt a little bit weak at times. I suppose that’s perhaps a little bit to be expected… I’ve dropped my calorie intake down to approximately 2500 calories/day, which is a little bit lower than I’ve been getting lately. Still a very reasonable amount, but it makes a certain amount of sense that I might have a bit less energy to go around. However, I managed to fight through, and did everything in the workout except for the first of the upward bows. After the upward bows, I went and did Stepmania for a while. Only about half an hour today… my feet were a bit sore from yesterday, and my legs were fairly tired from the total body workout. After that, I went back and did the rest of the total body workout, which is to say, the cool down part. Not sure how much of a difference it made, but it’s nice to cool down after the workout, so that put it after all the working out. I’ll probably go with some abs tomorrow, although I might take it a little bit easier, and just do yoga abs or something. Maybe balanceball… I guess I’ll see how I feel.

I went with the abs yoga workout that I was originally thinking about for tonight. It was somewhat tougher than I expected it to be… my lower abs were definitely feeling the burn, as it were. Good to see the pilates is at least making the muscles work. I got through without any real trouble, although my form wasn’t quite as tight as I’d like. My focus was a little weak as well, although I’m not sure that it’s been all that great at any point lately. I haven’t been paying enough attention to it, certainly. After the workout, I was a bit uncertain as to what I wanted to do. I was feeling rather hungry, so just eating was an option. I had originally thought about getting the hip opening workout in, but after a bit of reflection I decided that I wanted to do that after a Stepmania workout, and since I was planning on taking the night off from that, hip opening wasn’t happening. In the end I decided to just go with a stamina workout, because I wanted something fairly light. I considered just doing nothing, but the abs workout felt really light by itself, so I felt the need to get something else in. That workout was decent as well, although my legs were feeling somewhat stiff. That was another part of the reason I wanted to get something else in, try to work the stiffness out of my legs a little bit. The stiffness is that somewhat unusual stiffness that I was resting a week or so ago… I think it’s related to stretching more than I usually can, or something. I don’t know that it’s a bad thing, really… quite possibly means that my flexibility is increasing. Still, I plan on continuing to monitor the situation, make sure things seem okay. That’s all for tonight… not sure what I’ll do tomorrow… possibly pilates.
