Thelonious, Gothic Spire

Don't have much time to post, but thought I'd throw out a couple more socks.

First up is Thelonious, knit by the one and only Linda from BobaKnit. This sock is symmetrical down the front, but not the side (meaning left and right side are mirror images, but front and back are not), which I think makes it particularly cool.

Thelonious Side Thelonious Front

And Gothic Spire, knit by speed demon sock knitter Jeni also from BobaKnit. (Gotta love BobaKnit!)

Gothic Spire Side Gothic Spire Back

I also spent most of last night re-sizing Rhiannon, so that it will now fit over 200 different calf/ankle/foot circumference combinations. So ya'll can get your manly kilt hose on. I'm hoping to get the other knee-highs converted tonight.

For those of you interested in sizing details, Twisted Flower has 2 sizes, German Stocking currently has 4 but will hopefully have hundreds after tonight, Thelonious has 6 sizes, and Gothic Spire has 4 sizes.

Stayed tune for even more socks later this week!

Those socks are fabulous! I especially love Thelonius--are you going to make the pattern available? Pretty please?

You are my sock hero.

Your socks are a work of art and as other have stated, I'm totally in on any sock book you come out with. Print it, I'll buy it.

Posted by: NurseShar at February 20, 2007 10:19 AM

Okay, this is ultra-mega ass-kissy.....but how in HELL do you come up with that many great patterns? I've not seen one - NOT ONE - from you that I wouldn't fall over myself to knit! And I'm picky!!!

Posted by: Alyson at February 20, 2007 10:25 AM

Both pairs are fabulous! Please let us know when the patterns will be available.

Posted by: Vera at February 20, 2007 10:44 AM

Cookie, you are truly amazing. Your sock designs are incredible, and I can't wait to (attempt to) knit them myself!

Posted by: loribird at February 20, 2007 10:51 AM

Gothic Spire is BEAUTIFUL. I thought I was drooling bad over the Twisted Flower until I saw this. Nope. Nothing compares to this. This is unadulterated lust at its finest. Will these patterns be available to those without access to Stitches?

Posted by: KT at February 20, 2007 11:10 AM

I love those socks!! I want to knit a pair of the Thelonious socks right now!

Posted by: Emily at February 20, 2007 11:14 AM

Gorgeous! I adore them both!

Posted by: Opal at February 20, 2007 11:29 AM

O M G....I need the Thelonius pattern.....Beautiful.

Cookie, You've got an amazing eye for design. Your sock patterns are some of the most interesting I've ever seen....you really need to sell these somewhere. If you need help, contact me...I'll be glad to help get you going.

Posted by: Pam Porter at February 20, 2007 12:08 PM

Beautiful socks. Please be sure to post how we can get a copy of the pattern!

Posted by: Amy at February 20, 2007 12:13 PM

Amazing craftsmanship in your socks! I love them. When are patterns of these latest three going to be available? I agree that you should publish a book of sock patterns!

Posted by: Dianna at February 20, 2007 12:22 PM

Holy moly. Every time you post another sock, I am awestruck all over again. The patterns for these will be available in some form one day, right? Right?

Posted by: Michelle at February 20, 2007 12:23 PM

Cheers for Cookie, Linda, and Jeni. You guys cranked out patterns and socks faster than I could ever believe.

And Cookie? There's several people who clearly want ALL the patterns.

Posted by: freecia at February 20, 2007 12:41 PM

WOW! All the designs you have shown are stunning. Good luck with your booth at Stitches. I have a feeling things are going to go very well!!

Posted by: Mandy at February 20, 2007 12:44 PM

Cookie, I belong to a knitalong sock knitting group. They all want your sock patterns. I'll be at Stitches and am willing to buy for them but... are you going to sell the patterns seperately or as kits with yarn only? Are you going to sell the patterns via your online store after stitches? Thanks in advance for any info.

I love your socks, so:

WOW! I so hope there's some patterns left to buy - It's a tad difficult for me to get there to get them (being in Australia and all).

Posted by: BrownPants at February 20, 2007 1:57 PM

Oh my god, Cookie!
Those socks are glorious! I love them both, but have to say it was the Gothic spires that made my mouth hang open the longest... Can't wait for those patterns.

Posted by: Kylie at February 20, 2007 2:24 PM

I haven't seen a single sock designed by you that I didn't love. I'd buy a book of yours in a heartbeat!

Posted by: Jen at February 20, 2007 4:56 PM

I *love* Thelonious! Love the colour (what's that yarn?) and would love to have the pattern. Please let your adoring fans know how (and how soon) we can acquire it. Thanks!!

Posted by: canknitian at February 20, 2007 5:19 PM

I found your blog after seeing the exquisite Pomatomus at knitty.com. I am amazed that socks can be fine art.

Posted by: Corinthian at February 20, 2007 5:31 PM

Spectacular.

Posted by: Elinor at February 20, 2007 5:38 PM

Cookie! You are so talented. I love Thelonious, especially because (I assume) they're named after one of my heroes. I'll be dreaming of the day I can knit them.

Posted by: Jessica at February 20, 2007 6:09 PM

Absolutely amazing, Cookie!

Posted by: Lolly at February 20, 2007 6:10 PM

cookie, i'll knit a sock for you any day! it was such a pain at first, but now on my second sock it's much much easier and i love the symmetry and the lace and the rusticness of it (yeah, that's a word)!! and the color, the wonderful teal color is so lovely, and the louet is awesome to knit with!!!!

Posted by: linda at February 20, 2007 7:09 PM

Cookie, you are a sock goddess! I'm nowhere near your skill, but a girl can dream!

Posted by: AJ at February 20, 2007 7:43 PM

We are not worthy.... Wow. I'd definitely buy your book if you put one out.
I'm especially taken with the Thelonius pattern - such elegant lines.

Posted by: Paisley at February 20, 2007 9:26 PM

When you said you were resizing a sock I didn't realize you meant one of the knee-highs!

The socks Jeni knit look intriguing to me. :)

Posted by: Abigail at February 20, 2007 9:48 PM

So...at some point, are you thinking of pulling all these patterns together into a book? Because that might be one of the few pattern books I would actually buy.

Posted by: G. Knerd at February 21, 2007 12:10 AM

I think I'm in love with Thelonius. Both the pattern and that to-die-for colour.

I've become a regular reader of your blog now, and last night I started a little bit of math to convert Monkey from Knitty into a hat. I wonder if I'll be able to knit it.

Posted by: Guro at February 21, 2007 12:30 AM

Those are exquisite. I'm in awe.

Posted by: Pigwotknits at February 21, 2007 2:25 AM

Posted by: kris at February 21, 2007 2:28 AM

I second all the commenters above! Stunning!

Posted by: ramona at February 21, 2007 5:34 AM

Here's another vote for access to your patterns. You design the best socks I've even seen.

Posted by: Maggie at February 21, 2007 6:43 AM

How we can buy these gorgeous patterns if we cannot go to Stitches?? I absolutely desparately have to get these incredible patterns!! I live on the other side of the planet and am dreaming about these patterns day and night...I WAAAAAAANT THEM, especially Twisted Flower and Gothic one! Oh please.

Posted by: Tricoquelicot at February 21, 2007 7:28 AM

What Alyson said. Double. Most sock patterns are so run of the mill I don't even bother buying anymore. Yours are truly unique while also being very fashionable. Bravo!

Posted by: Denise in Kent, WA at February 21, 2007 7:32 AM

Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my keyboard. That Thelonious pattern is FABULOUS. It's working with my current assymetrical fashion obsession.

Posted by: shadkitty at February 21, 2007 7:56 AM

Wow... I love the socks. I love the variety of lace and cabling, and different styles you show. Your socks are HOT!

Posted by: toothfairy at February 21, 2007 9:14 AM

I love the look of your Thelonious socks. I just finished knitting a pair of Monkeys and really enjoyed it.

Posted by: anushka at February 21, 2007 9:42 AM

Absolutely gorgeous socks! I can't wait to see these in person. Oh and don't worry about the stitch and seek game. Have a booth is so much better!

Posted by: Marisol at February 21, 2007 9:47 AM

So, exactly *how* can I get my hands on these patterns? They are unbelievable!

Posted by: Melanie at February 21, 2007 10:02 AM

Cookie, a number of people on the Sockamaniac Yahoo list want your new patterns. Can Hollis at Full Thread Ahead handle mail order sales for these, and will you have enough to give her after the show? I volunteered to buy some at the show but it is getting to be a huge deal. At least 30 people want them.

Posted by: Margie at February 21, 2007 10:12 AM

Long time lurker, first time commenter - your socks are so beautiful!

I'm stuck in a tiny, cold part of Canada, with a move to New England in a month, and so Stitches West isn't an option, but those Rhiannon - wow.

My brother plays the bagpipes, and usually has to order his hose directly from Scotland. Since I knit, I've wanted to try to make him a pair, but don't trust my pattern writing skills for something so complex. I really hope you'll make these available for purchase to the rest of us!

Posted by: Ellie at February 21, 2007 10:53 AM

I have seen so many fantastic socks here - I'm really excited for the patterns. I hope that you'll make them available, and soon.
Good luck with Stitches!

Posted by: Kristen at February 21, 2007 11:04 AM

I have made Beaudelaire and I am about to cast on Monkey as a Sockamaniac KAL. I LOVE your socks! :-)

Thanks for all your good work!

Posted by: Isabelle aka Tricotine at February 21, 2007 12:44 PM

Those socks are absolutely beautiful, you are so talented! But are you sure 200 sizes are really enough? ;-)

Posted by: Jen at February 21, 2007 2:43 PM

Your socks are fantastic, what more is there to say.

Posted by: Deb at February 21, 2007 5:26 PM

Cookie, You rock. But you already knew that! I love the name of Thelonius (Monk?). My fave jazzster. And Gothic Spire is in-Spired. Really, you rock.

http://britknitcast.libsyn.com/ Has a rave review/podcast of one of your older patterns Cookie if your interested. :)

eg "Most intuitive sock pattern ever"

Thought you'd like to know how wide spread is the love of your socks :D

Posted by: gilraen at February 24, 2007 1:30 AM

Cookie, I just finished listening to the Lime and Violet podcast and they were gushing about your newest sock patters. They even mentioned the word stalking, I would be on the lookout for two women toting sock yarn. Well then that narrows it down?!?!? Hopefully I will be at Boba Knits this weekend, I have been trying to make it. And no, I am not the stalker! hehehe

Posted by: Lisa Lowery at March 9, 2007 1:27 PM

I am in love with these sock patterns. I must have them. Am I possibly the only one who doesn't know how to order them? Someone enlighten me, please. I shall not rest until I know how to get my hands on these patterns. They're brilliant! Ta, Tif

Posted by: Tiferet at March 12, 2007 12:53 PM

Cookie you are so awesome. I saw you on Knitty Gritty and you were fantastic. I don't have time to knit like I yearn to but alot of your patterns are on my list. Can't wait for your book.
