The City of Knitterly Pleasure and Sin

I'm not dead, I've just been busy and not really knitting. I know, very tragic but true. But all that doesn't matter because as I type this, I am in The City of Knitterly Pleasure and Sin. That's right folks, I'm in Toronto. The grampa-in-law is turning 80 on Saturday, and the DH and I were invited to the festivities. I am never able to turn down an excuse to visit Toronto, so here I am. I planned this trip intentionally to arrive 2 days before the DH, so I can finally visit wonderful knitterly destinations like Knit Night at Lettuce Knit, Shelridge Farm, Romni Wools, and the Textile Museum of Canada.

I made it to Wednesday Knit Night at Lettuce Knit and met up with Lisa, a university friend of the DH. I got to meet Laura (her blanket is looking fantastic), Denny, Rachel (with no blog), Mel, Sarah (who was knitting Titania's Revenge in Sock Candy!) and a bunch of others (it was hard to keep track, especially for someone as bad with names as myself). It was really fun, even if I was sort of out of it having woken up at 4:45am and forgotten to eat lunch. I've been trying to convince the DH that we really ought to move to Toronto, and I have to wonder what ever convinced him to move away from this paradise.

Oh right, and I got stuff! Let's see a sneak peak at Kristi's upcoming xmas present. (So don't look K, if you want to keep it a surprise, but who are we kidding here? You know what you're getting. You can probably even guess what sorts of colors it's going to be.)

First up, we have some wonderfully Canadian Fleece Artist Merino Sliver fiber. 50g of each color, so hopefully enough for barberpoled sock yarn:

Fleece Artist Fiber

And as soon as I knew what the name of the colorway of this fiber was, I had to get it. Well, okay, as soon as I saw a sample yarn spun from it, I knew it had "Kristi" written all over it. It is Northern Lights 100% wool top in.... get this.... CAMOUFLAGE.

Camo Fiber

Oh yeah, and I still knit. I started a boring pair of socks for the grampa's birthday present. I needed something easily finishable by Saturday. These are knit in Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock Heavy Weight in Lagoon.

Grampa Socks

Tomorrow I'm off to Romni, the Textile Museum, and then a road trip to visit Buffy at Shelridge Farm with Lisa and Denise. We're going to drink wine and handpaint yarn with Buffy. If that's not fun, I don't know what possibly could be.

Comments

I love the colors of everything, but especially the camouflage. Kristi is a very lucky girl.

Yeah, like I could "not look".

CAMOFLAUGE!!!!! AHHHHhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

I think I'm starting to understand people talking about yarn in terms of "delicious" and "yum". Because fiber is starting to make me drool.

I would say it's too hard to wait, but let's face it: I have enough fiber to last me until then.

How funny, I'm heading up to Ontario for my grammie-in-law's 90th birthday next month. I wish I had time to stop in Toronto, but alas, we'll just be driving through it on the way to Kingston.

That fiber is gorgeous!

LOL, she'll LOVE the camo!
The socks look fantastic, "boring" can be very nice sometimes. especially with colors like that!
I've never been to Toronto, but it is one of my DH's favorite places, so maybe he'll take me (and let me knit shop too!)

Great colors - what size needles are you using for the heavyweight? Looks like 5s or 6s.
