Monday Miscellany

Ok, get ready for it, I've got a bit of this 'n' that for you today.

First off, Cookie and I went down to Purlescence Yarns to lend a hand on Saturday. They gave us the formidable but fun task of labeling all of their Cascade 220. Now, you may think this doesn't sound that formidable. But they have over 100 colors of Cascade 220, and they have at least one bag of each of those colorways! When we were done, we had created a wall o' Cascade 220, which was a sight to behold.

Chloe tried to tell us that the ridiculous excitement of opening HUGE boxes of yarn would wear off, but I don't believe her. I mean, how can she even believe herself? Look at these pictures!

Suffice it to say that we're looking forward to the big Grand Opening this weekend. They have some exciting stuff there!

Moving along ... Like I've said before, it's very exciting to see Sarcelle's popping up, and now I'm even more excited to have seen 2 finished Sarcelles!

Wendy finished one ...
Love it, love the colors, love the pics!

And blogless Line in France sent me a pic:

She used Rowan Cashcotton 4 ply (in shade Vivid), which is thicker than the yarn called for, but I think it looks beautiful and cozy!

I'll be starting a gallery (or list of links) on the Sarcelle page, so if you finish a Sarcelle, please let me know so I can add you to the gallery!

And yes, I do still knit. Yesterday in the car I got to the heel part of the A Step Above sock (Knitter's magazine, this is done in STR Saratoga):

ASA2

Then I stopped because I didn't have the pattern with me and didn't want to use my handspun as waste yarn (the only other yarn I had with me).

So I started a sock with the handspun. This is the stuff that I had started Cable Net with, but it wasn't working for me (it's not the pattern, it was the pattern/yarn combo), so I have a plan of mine. So far, not much to see, but here it is anyway:

And I didn't even get started telling you all about the spinning! (Hint)

Comments

Wow, that is a lot of yarn.

I really like the way your entrelac socks are coming out.

What a way to spend your time, labelling bags and bags of yarn -- heaven! the entrelac socks look fantastic.

Wow - what a project! I love the pics of her rolling around in the bags of yarn!! (not like I wouldn't do the same!)

Yeah...you caught me. We are expecting Lorna's Laces, Rowan, and Blue Moon to arrive today. I might loose my ever lovin' mind; pictures to follow!

Right, she looks like a woman who's about to get over being excited about yarn any minute now. Sure.

Good heavens it must be something in the water. I just started a pair of entrelac socks on Sunday. Of course I didn't use a pattern. And I've never made entrelac before. But undaunted, I perservere.

I worked at The Needlepoint Joint in Ogden, Utah for 6 years or so. I don't think ANYONE EVER gets tired of opening boxes of glorious stuff.

About time Sunnyvale had a good yarn store. I can't wait to check it out this weekend!
