I've been kind of waffling on this decision, but now that I see this picture, I know it's the right one:
I really really like the Cable Net pattern from Knitty. I really really like my handspun yarn. Together? They're just not working. Cable Net has those intricate cables so it needs a clean (precise? Can I use precise to describe yarn?) yarn. My handspun, my first sock weight handspun, is just not that yarn.
I do have a plan for the yarn, and goodness knows there is plenty of yarn out there that I could use for Cable Net. Decision made. Yay!
It would have beeen unfair towards your pretty yarn....I think you did the right thing.
Posted by: Marjan at September 28, 2006 5:39 AMthank you so much for posting this with the link! i had forgotten those socks on knitty, and i'm thinking, if i do have just the right "precise" yarn, i just might cast on for them asap!
Posted by: gray la gran at September 28, 2006 7:32 AMOoh, I'd forgotten about those Cable Net Socks. You are right though, I think they need a plain, solid, smooth yarn to show off those cables.

I like your homespun, it looks cozy.
