Look ma, I still knit!

I've probably been boring you to tears with all my non-knitting content. This probably isn't going to help the boredom issue, but at least it's knitting. Here, I present to you, the start of a very boring looking sweater:

Up to the armholes

Yep, stockinette. Don't worry, that's just the start of the back. The front is more interesting, and I haven't gotten to the cool part of the back and sleeves yet. I have some awesome ideas for it. I feel like this sweater is taking FOREVER, and I'm not sure what my problem is. I'm using Karabella Breeze I scored on sale at the Knitting Zone a few weeks ago.

Karabella Breeze

The yarn isn't as luxurious to knit as I thought it would be considering the fiber content is 40% cashmere, 60% silk, but I do think it will feel divine after washing and blocking. The lack of elasticity makes tensioning more difficult for me, sort of like knitting cotton, especially on the purl rows. One thing that is absolutely fabulous about Breeze is the yardage -- over 200 yards per ball. I finally made it up to the armholes on the front and back, and I've used less than 2 balls so far.

On a tangent, does anybody else feel the compulsion to squeeze balls back into shape when they've become boxy looking from packing? The poor Karabella Breeze looked like this before I squished them back into shape.

Comments

Yes.
Balls should be roundish, so, squeeze away(o.k., that didn't come out right). I like things to look 'just so', too! For the taking forever part, I often feel that way when I knit in stockinette stitch. It bores me to no end, unless there is a pattern or colorwork(my latest obsession in knitting). I find it hard to finish things that have lots of st st. You are making good progress though. Try doing something else while knitting(something mindless, like watching t.v.) when you are just doing simple stockinette stitch. It makes it seem like it is moving faster than it actually is!
Good Luck!

I squeeze too! Working at a yarn shop, this makes it take 3 times as long to unpack a box. But it looks soooo much better roundish. Who wants yarn that looks prepackaged?

Have you ever considered writing a book? Of sock patterns? I think your socks are brilliant, I'm serious. You are walking in the footsteps of Nancy Bush, Anna Zilborg, and Priscilla Gibson-Roberts. I have had so much fun knitting your sock patterns!

Yes! I squish yarn in to shape. I also straighten out mused up twisted skeins.

Try working in a yarn shop!!! It's really dangerous for anal retentive people. Once you get yarn out on the shelf looking all pretty you want to kill a customer for messing it up.

I love this yarn and visit my blog to see what I made with it. I am lucky to have a Karabella store in my town and the owner is there most days. She's doing a book by the way on her yarns and designs.

I hope you have enough because I was told it is discontinued.
