April showers bring May flowers

(minimal knitting content)

I've seen tulips popping up all over the KnitBlog world, so I took a picture of these lovely beauts:

Coming home from vacation was actually a bit disconcerting, since we moved a few days before leaving. Every time I thought of home, I thought of our old place which was a lot nicer. I still haven't finished unpacking. This will eventually become my office / yarn room:

I guess there was that whole wedding thing, so I should say a few words about it. The wedding was the first weekend after our arrival. It was surreal and far far far more work and posing for pictures than anything else I have ever endured in my entire life. We were really clueless during the ceremony. We lit some candles and incense. Then someone put some flowers on us, attached our heads with string, and painted something on our foreheads. After that, guests lined up to pour water from a shell on us while giving us blessings. There were a lot of blessings for fertility. Someone wished us lots and lots and lots of children. Hrm. After the headstring detachment, there were lots of photos. Then we got to change into "western" outfits. Then more photos. Here's the best photo that sums up the evening (note the lovely shawl):

Yep, that's an ice sculpture swan. There are actually *two* ice sculpture swans. Oh yeah, and even crazier? There was on-stage coerced karaoke. The evil MCs would call people up and force them to karaoke. Luckily one of our friends (Mr. Lee for those in the know) volunteered for the job, otherwise I don't know what would have happened. Our friend Angee loves to karaoke, but never knows the words to any songs, so she has this habit of singing "Meow meow meow" or completely making crap up. That was avoided, thank goodness.

And here's my knitting update. I finished a sleeve on the "Natasha" and will start the second sleeve soon. I unseamed the sleeve from the body and am stil not sure what to do about the neckline.

I'm totally cracking up about "meow meow meow" karaoke. Hilarious. Freaking hilarious.

You look fantastic in your shawl and that's an impressive ice sculpture.

Natasha looks wonderful. Looking foward to the neckline.

I still can't get over the 3 weddings! You both look very nice though, and that shawl is gorgeous, I'm assuming you knit it yourself.

Natasha is looking grand.

Just curious ... what are the two dangling things on the groom's suit? The shawl is nothing but lovely! Did you have this use in mind when you knitted it? Red is the mainly colour for most asian weddings ... :)

Cookie you looked VaVaVoom! Fantastically pretty hair. Is that your olympic shawl?

Look at YOU! Sooooo beautiful.

You get a yarn room? That's great!

Of course my husband is mumbling about the fact that we have a yarn house and that the only yarn-free room is his study, but "yarn room" sounds so nice.

what a great post; it's so good to see you back!
what about making the sweater neck a sort of boat neck that stretches straight across from the top point of one sleeve over to the other? seems like that line would work with the rest of the garment . . . and not come up too high
