Once upon a time

Long long ago, I worked for a dotcom that was destined to later crash and burn. I could have predicted their demise. There was a definite high school vibe around the work place. But hey, as long as I got paid, it didn't much bother me. So one week they had a photographer come in to take pictures of everyone. Some people dressed up and did their makeup. It was like picture week at school all over again. Now I don't particularly dislike having my picture taken, but I just didn't see the point in taking 15 minutes out of my work day to have it done, so they could put it up on their wall next to all the well groomed people. After I avoided the photographer all week, my boss man came and told me I was the only one left to be photographed. I just looked at him like he was crazy and asked "Are you serious? Do I have to get my picture taken?" The answer was basically "Yes." Now keep in mind that I wasn't even an employee at this company. I was contracting.

So I dragged myself over to the photographer. I looked visibly unenthused by the whole process, so he said "You don't have to take this seriously, you know." And somehow that led to this:

Crazy C

The point of this story? For some reason I love that picture. It scares J, and he won't let me put it up. Anyway, it reminds me ever so slightly of the picture Freecia took of me yesterday at Hollis's Super Ball Party. It was the euphoria of yarn purchasing kicking in. You should check out Hollis's post. (Her blog doesn't seem to work in Firefox though. I have to open IE.) Can you spot me and K in the crowd photo? The answer.

And clearly, I was not the winner. The Dale Baby Ull family must have been. Clever girl bringing parents with her to help carry yarn! I meant to show a picture of the beautiful Lantern Moon bag I got. I really like it, but I hadn't gotten it before because I prefer a shoulder strap. But at half off, why not? I also realized that I picked up 16" size 9 needles, not 24". Dammit!

In other news, I banded some local knitting groups together for an order with Rowan. They have some special offers on their magazines and books, but the shipping is $15, so I figured it'd be nice to split that cost with lots of people. Well, the first part arrived yesterday:

These piles belong to (from top to bottom, left to right) Elspeth, me, Abigail, K, Lu, Julia, and Becky.

Oh man! I completely love that dot com pic of yours! Too bad I didn't know about your Rowan plan earlier ... I wanted to get their magazines too but the shipping is so high!

Silly me, and my not reading. I read bottom to top left to right and I was like "Oh no! I didn't get all of the books!" Then I actually read it again and realized that that nice stack of Miss Bea's books is indeed mine. Yay! When can I come and pick them up?

I picked K right out. Don't ask me how. But were you wearing a hat? That threw me.

Ooooh, Rowan Books.

My aunt was one of the last few at the end of the line and you definitely were smart to get in line early. Her arms were mighty tired by the time she got to the counter.
