Training Day Two

Today I swatched the Fair Isle Pattern for the Knitting Olympics gloves again. I realized I must have been unclear in my last post, so I'll try not to be so stream-of-conscience in my writing style today.

The gloves will have two Fair Isle panels. The bottom one looks like a wave and the top is a Celtic knot. D mentioned that she had thought the body of the gloves would be in green, so today I tried swatching it that way:

What we have above is the swatch from yesterday, both panels with a medium brown main color. See yesterday's post for another picture if you like. Above yesterday's swatching is the new part of the swatch with olive green as the main color. The bottom panel of the new part uses the dark, medium, and light brown, while the top panel o fhte new swatch uses the dark and olive green and medium and light brown. What do people think? Is the top set of two panels a nice color arrangement? Would you perhaps put the colors in a different order? For instance, maybe have the bottom panel use the dark green with the medium and light brown?

So far, I have tried to stick with about the same color value as the original pattern. So where the pattern calls for a medium tone, I use that, or when it calls for a dark tone I use that. Since this is my first Fair Isle project, I've heard that this is probably the way to go.

Opinions, folks?

I lurve it just the way it is. It's really beautiful. Wow, fair isle for the olympics? Sheesh! Good luck!

I like it with the olive green, but then I'm partial to green anyway.

Hrm. I'm torn. I like the top one because there's more green. But I like the bottom one because the green pops out more. I'm thinking with those colors, you can't go wrong with whatever combo you choose.

I think I like the green better.
