With Cookie gone in Chicago, I guess it's up to me to take care of the blog. I have heard that there are computers in Chicago, and I'm sure that Cookie has knitting with her, but knowing her as I do, I bet there's no camera there. We do like to have photos in our blog.
We also like to have knitting in our blog. Hopefully, I will soon be able to provide that. However, today I'm going to give an update on my wrist. Think of this as a knitterly PSA, a cautionary tale ...
Yesterday I finally broke down and went to the doctor again for my wrist. She asked me if I wanted to try a cortisone injection. Anything! Anything, I tell you, if I can only type and knit again (not necessarily in order of importance)! Now, I'm the biggest needle wimp, so I really was desperate. And immediately following the injection (which included lidocaine, and despite my doc's claim did hurt) my arm was feeling pretty good. Now, I didn't go all crazy, I was still babying it, which was good I think.
Considering that later my arm hurt so bad I wanted to vomit. My goodness does my elbow hurt -- and that's several advil later. I'm hearing that this is normal, and am still hopeful. I'll keep you updated.
Remember, if your wrist hurts while knitting, put the knitting down. I mean it. Also, do some bicep and tricep curls with light weights to keep your arms strong and healthy.
Thanks, will do. I bought some little 5 lb. weights last year when my wrists were killing me. While I didn't stop knitting, I sure did cut back on the work. hee hee.
Posted by: Laura at August 5, 2005 12:34 PMHi Kristi: Ouch. Here's hoping the cortisone kicks in and you feel better soon. Now that you've bitten the bullet and resorted to needles, perhaps you'll try the acupuncture?
Yikes. Sounds like that shot made you worse and not beter. :(
Posted by: Abigail at August 5, 2005 2:52 PMWhen the pain gets better and you want to try knitting again, try those magnet bracelets. My dad has one (he gets the same pain when typing) and he wears it constantly and it keeps the wrist pain down. Hope you're feeling better soon.
Not to be mean, but, I'm glad to hear about your arm. Mine has a pinched nerve at the shoulder and I've been in pain and numbness for almost 2 weeks. Physical therapy is helping, so hopefully I'll be able to knit and sew soon too! Love the blog. Denise
