K and I went to the local Knitting Meetup's yarn swap and brought TONS of yarn. I had an entire Trader Joe's grocery bag and half a garbage bag full of yarn. K had more than a grocery bag herself. We just decided it was taking up too much space and that some other knitter would like the yarns more than us. Boy did I discover my yarn tastes have changed. Gone with the cotton chenille! Gone with the one-ballers! Gone with the brighter or novelty greens! It all had to go. Gone with the Brazilia Pompom, the Paradiso, the handdyed wools, the scratchy mohairs, the LB Homespun! It all had to go.
So what did I get out of the swap? Why, this one little itty ball of sock yarn:
How is this an enhancement? I just had to remember that one ball of yarn that I'm likely to use is more important to me than a bunch of yarns I no longer like. Especially when someone else will enjoy those yarns more than me.
Besides, this makes room for more yarn in the future. :-) And I feel a lot better now that almost all of the yarns in my stash are ones I'm still excited about using eventually. I'll admit it, I couldn't part with a few. Their time has not come yet.
I was so glad you two came to stash swap & brought fun items to swap. Grocery bag of unlove -> one skein of love.. sounds like a pretty successful enhancement!
