Finally starting

Late last week I swatched for Butterfly and for some bizarre reason thought I would need size 9 needles. I went to Tahoe without them and worked on some more pink ribbons instead.

Then, last night I re-swatched and ended up getting the gauge I wanted on 7s. Keep in mind that I'm not using Noro at all, I'm using Cascade's Lana d'Oro in Lichen.

So I cast on last night and messed up my first row.

I re-cast on tonight and did a few rows while talking to my parents on the phone. Not much to see, so I won't bother with a pic.

I had been thinking that the chevron pattern is really pretty with Noro, but was starting to worry that it wouldn't be pretty with just plain yarn, so I swatched up a test swatch of caron simply soft or some such thing to see what I could do with some eyelets.

Behold:

After intense IM discussion, C and I decided I should just stick with the pattern because it looks "cleaner" to me. The lacy stuff just looks sort of bumpy, though I may use it for something else at some point. Anyone else have an opinion?

Comments

Kinda like the lacy bumps, but agree that for this project the cleaner look.
But make something lacy and bumpy soon.

I like the "plain" pattern, for what it's worth.
