I've decided to start Butterfly (from Noro Knits by Jane Ellison) with some the massive Noro stash I've got.
I'm using Silk Garden #205. I'm going to make a shortened version because I think the sleeves and body are way too long for me, and I don't have that much Silk Garden anyway.
Wait, those aren't aluminum needles I'm using! That's right, I bought a pair of Brittany birch needles in size 8 a while back, since my only straight 8s were these flimsily flexible plasitc Lion Brand pieces of suckitude. I'm liking the Brittany birch a lot. They seem sturdier than bamboo.
Oh yeah, and I didn't like the way the pattern was knitting up. It calls for knit one in front and back as a way to increase, and I've decided to change that to a symmetric raised increase pair. I think it looks better.
I have not forgotten the recycled silk jacket. I knit up to the sleeve shaping on one sleeve. Now I only have one hank left and am awaiting the big shipment next week.
As for knitterly events this weekend, for my own sanity, I've decided not to try waking up tomorrow at 5am to make it to Monica's in time for what will surely be a fabulous trip to Threadbear in Michigan. This is really for the sake of my stash. It's getting too fat. I'm afraid it's more volumous than I am.
In good news, this leaves me with enough free time this weekend to make it to KnitKnit's exhibition at Threepenny this weekend. I'm not convinced it'll be as fun as ten yarn addict knitters on an inter-state trip in search of yarn, but we'll see.
