K and I haven't posted in a week because I was in the Bay Area distracting her. It was very very fun, and I'll have to post pictures soon.
As for my Secret Pal, hey there! You should note that there are two authors on this blog. Kristi is in yellow. I am in pink. I'm participating in Secret Pal III. Kristi is not. That is sometimes confusing. I'm very excited about Secret Pal. The creative juices have begun flowing already.
Onto the Q&A:
1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer high-end/natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
I admit it. The more I knit, the more of a yarn snob I become. I like merino, alpaca, cashmere, all those fancy soft good things.
2. Do you spin? Crochet?
I just bought a crochet hook, but as I told the woman at the store: "Give me the cheapy hook, since I'll only use it once." So not really.
3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
I don't like smoke or perfume, but I can live with it. No known allergies.
4. How long have you been knitting?
I learned when I was young, but didn't take up knitting seriously (i.e. didn't become crazily addicted) until last year.
5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
I do, but it's totally out of date, and I own some of the stuff on it already. It's full of knitting books. Heehee.
6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
I don't really like scented things.
7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
Yes. I love smooth creamy chocolates with hazelnuts or toffee or other stuff mixed in, but not plain. Not so big on the plain sugar candy though.
8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
I do some other stuff (will be taking up sewing shortly), but knitting is my true love.
9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if you want to make her a CD)
Obscure crap. Underground hip hop (Blackalicious, Aceyalone, The Coup, Jurassic 5, Deltron 3030). "Indie" (Clinic, The Postal Service, Menomena, Enon). Jazz pianists. Estrogen excessive chicks (Ani Difranco, Tori Amos, Melissa Ferrick). Techno-industrial. 80s pop and new wave. Lots. Lots and lots of music, really. I can play mp3s.
10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer?
I like pinks, lime and other pale greens, pale yellow, light blue, dark red, rich reds, rich blues, black, grey, super bright funky color mixtures. Not purple or white or cream. Does that make a color family? Probably not.
11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I live with my boy and kitty. They're both adorable.
12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
To be surrounded by and knit beautiful yarn all the time.
13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
I generally like DK, sport, or sock weight yarns. Anything not too difficult to knit with (i.e. not railroad ribbons). Either something colorful or something that will show texture well. Merino is always nice.
14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I prefer animal fibers, but I also like the super soft synthetics. Plant fibers are okay too. I'm more into feel and look than what the label says.
15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
I want to learn how to weave with two colored knitting.
16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
I like hats for quick knits, but I have so darned many of them. In general, I like knitting sweaters.
17. What are you knitting right now?
A pair of socks and a couple sweaters are on my "to finish next" list. The list is subject to change at any time, of course.
18. What do you think about ponchos? (this is really a curiousity question for us)
I like the lacy ones, but I would never wear one. Nor would anyone I know.
19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
If I'm knitting back and forth, straight. But I like knitting in the round when I can.
20. How did you learn to knit?
My aunt taught me.
21. How old is your oldest UFO?
Less than a year.
