Carla wannabe update

I finished a piece! Using the correct stitch instead of my dumbass wrong one! Here's how it looks:

As you can see in the closeup pic, this looks much more carla-esque. I decided that Carla should be measured hanging for better results. I'm afraid I may have made mine too long even though I shortened it, but we'll see how it fits on my midgetous body later.

Some may question my yarn choice, but to hell with them I say! Just wait until I wear it with my CRAZY PLATFORM BOOTS.

Carla knitting notes: Since I used a substitute yarn and larger needles, I am getting a completely different row gauge than others who are using Rowan Cotton Tape. The larger needles are giving me a good stitch gauge, but my row gauge is huge. For instance, where Sally had 35 rows, I had a measly 21. So I modified the pattern a bit to do the decreases every 4th row instead of every 6th row. The decreasing was a bit confusing*, but I detailed what I did here.

* It has been said that Rowan patterns can lack some explaining. I will thoroughly second that opinion. Gripe: They include a diagram of the finished piece with some measurements (total length and total width), but not other measurements! Actually, the width is missing on the sleeve diagram too. But they don't include the length of the sleevehole, or the width at the neck. It's not that hard to figure it out from the other numbers, but how hard is it to include these things? It looks shoddy to leave them out.

I really like the color on your carla sweater. I'm in the the carla-along too. I totally agree that the Rowan patterns leave something to be desired in the explaining. For mine,I think the top portion is a little too long for me. Maybe I have a short upper torso. I decided to knock off one of the last rows.
I have a bunch of black wool tape yarn, I think I might make a carla sweater with that too.

I can't wait to see your Carla finished--which might be tomorrow--with the speed at which you knit! I'm sorry I missed you at Stitches too. If you're ever in the Chicago area again please let us know.
