So now that the embroidered jacket has been abandoned, I've decided to take on another task: the dreaded boyfriend sweater. I'm using the charcoal colored lambswool alpaca blend on *eek* size 3 straight needles and am making up the pattern as I go along. So far I'm only about an inch into the back.
Unfortunately, the bf is extremely picky, so to get around this fact I'm designing it in such a way that I'll be able to modify it later (steek?) so that I'll be able to wear it. In fact, the more I think about the modification possibilities, the more I hope he doesn't like the end product, so I can wear it. :) Luckily we're about the same width, just drastically different heights. (Hurray for skinny boys!)
The plan right now is to make a basic crewneck in stockinette with a little bit of ribbing at the bottom, sleeve edges and neck edge. Maybe I will give it a zip front. And I'd like to sew in a zip pocket on one of the sleeves. If I have enough yarn and get ambitious, I might make it into a hoodie. If I had to mod it for myself, I would give it waist shaping, add pockets to the front, and shorten the sleeves and body.
Future project idea: I want to design a seamless mobius strip scarf with reversible cables. That would be cool!
Books I want: The Celtic Collection by Alice Starmore, Denim People by Kim Hargreaves, and this!
Music: Anxiously awaiting arrival of Misery is a Butterfly by Blonde Redhead. And J might fly in to see Blackalicious, DJ Shadow, and Lyrics Born with me next month!!!
