my homespun warmth

Here are a couple of projects I did with Lion Brand Homespun in Windsor. I'm surprised by how warm and soft the yarn is, but it is really nice. I'm not sure that I like the sheen of it, but whatever.

First, the scarf I made. It's garter stitch at the ends and then it's an openwork stitch throughout the body of it. This isn't the best pic, but when we get our galleries going, maybe I'll work on being more of a pro photographer.

And then I also made these wrist warmers. It was my first real attempt at seaming, other than the somewhat failed purse project (that will have to be another post), so I've chosen to take a pic of the second one here. The seams on the first are a bit ugly. For these I made rectangles of 6 rows garter, 6 stockinette, and then seamed them up leaving a one inch hole for my thumb. I think they look a little like a cast for a broken wrist, but I really dig them. Plus, they match my scarf! I would consider a hat too, but now it's 77 degrees today and I'm thinking tank top for my next project.

Anyway, here's the wrist warmer:

Btw, the tank top will probably be done in the Valley Cotton that I got from yarn.com (WEBS) ... more on that as I progress.

Curse you and your warm weather! Well, at least I'll be visiting soon. And then we can knit constantly! You should make a trashy 80's skanky tank top. Maybe the type that only goes over one breast and has a nipple cover star (crocheted?) for the other one.

I'm trying to imagine her wearing something like that, and failing.

Thank God you're failing at that. That just sounds scary. I was thinking a more normal tank, but thanks for the suggestions. Keep those coming, kids!
